I know I will get flamed on this but D. Reese, D. Edwards, and R. Ndiaye are all redshirt possibilities. In other words they could be redshirted. Now obviously I am sure no one on this board wants to go along with redshirting any of them but if they are just going to be practice squad players and arent going to get any minutes of significance it might be something you look at. And remember you lost Looney the other day and unless there is someone they sign in the Spring you might want to look at redshirting Edwards. There again just throwing it out there. Q can't redshirt and Reese certainly needs to. Even if Reese were to transfer after 14-15 he would still have 2 yrs of eligibility. Anyway no flaming but if you have to disagree and complain on that go ahead. I'm just putting that out there. Go Vols!

If it was between Reese or Q to transfer, I'd probably pick Q. Redshirts in basketball aren't as common as they are in football. Edwards won't redshirt this year and I think Reese can get in often enough to avoid a redshirt. We wouldn't redshirt pops because we'd be screwed if Stokes or Maymon get injured.

I would think Reese would be against it, because if he redshirts, then decides next year to transfer he would lose a year of eligibility because he has already used his redshirt year. I don't think you redshirt any of those guys, I think you can find someone in the spring who can commit more than Edwards.

Not surprised with your first sentence, who in their right mind would redshirt Derek Lebron Reese? As for pops, you can PLAN to redshirt him, if something comes up you can play him then. Not saying we should, but just saying you don't have to declare it preseason and then be without him.

Redshirting Just because isn't smart in basketball. That's one less scholarship you have for the future. If they aren't talent that can contribute now. Redshirting them for later isn't going to do much.

Why would we need to redshirt someone because we lost a scholarship? And if we redshirt Edwards that leaves us with 3 scholarships. I'd rather not redshirt a senior that isn't doing much now and won't next season.

Well I looked at all their bios on UT sports.com and any one of those 3 (Reese, Ndiaye, or Edwards) could redshirt. Now I don't see how all 3 could at all or even if you would want. But after we lost Looney the other day you know Edwards might could help you in 14-15 considering how post poor we look going into next year. But yeah most likely you find someone in the spring who you could sign or bring in is probably your best option. Personally if it means getting to the Final 4 I say play them all. But sometimes JUCOs need a year to develop to be able to help you. Reese would be the strongest redshirt possibility most likely if he would want to.

I agree for the most part on saving the schollies. But you better plan on signing a big time Post player from somewhere in the Spring considering how Post poor we will be next season. Now I am high on Turman, Cofer and of course AJ Davis. But the bruise brothers are the real deal and replacing them ain't gonna be easy!!!!

So redshirting Edwards makes it better?

I doubt redshirting Edwards makes it better but it would give you experience in CCMs system and he can play so that would give you added depth. Now if you can add a player like Looney or of his caliber in the spring then thats what I would do. I would think that is what Tennessee plans to do is to add someone else in the Spring. But you better find a good one.

I would have really have liked to have added S. Hurt but that fell through. But they need to find someone like that in the Spring for next year.

So I'm confused with how redshirting Reese, Edwards or Pops will help that cause next year?

They obviously feel great about Cofer and Turman.

Look BTO just do this: Find Some Post help immediately if not sooner for 14-15!!! Edwards by your own account is garbage minutes this season but looking at our roster for next season we could probably use him. And development is very important for guys like Reese, Ndiaye, even Edwards to contribute at this level. We aren't signing or haven't been signing one and dones like Kentucky. These guys have to be developed in some cases if not all.

We don't have 15 years to develop guys lol

I agree. We need to be signing more Kevon Looney, Leron Black, or S. Hurt types. Yes I am high on Cofer and Turman. I don't see how you could redshirt Ndiaye and probably Edwards but they do have redshirt years available. I think Reese could redshirt and probably should if the staff feels he can really help you down the road. Ndiaye was signed IMO for Yemi when he left. Hopefully he can give you a little more in the next 2 years. And you better find immediate post help without signing projects and if you do sign projects they have to be developed. There aren't any Anthony Davis type projects out there that are going to come in and be dominant.

Not sure what you're trying to say anymore. Point blank, we don't redshirt anyone, there's no reason to. Yes we need post help next year, but that has nothing to do with the guys you mentioned redshirting, your discussing 2 completely different topics.
