Redshirt Possibilities

Not sure what you're trying to say anymore. Point blank, we don't redshirt anyone, there's no reason to. Yes we need post help next year, but that has nothing to do with the guys you mentioned redshirting, your discussing 2 completely different topics.

Well if we don't redshirt anyone anymore why was Q redshirted? So obviously redshirting does still occur. I agree we need post help badly for next season.

Q was redshirted because of an agreement between Coach Martin and his father.

It's simple as this...does the staff feel they can recruit someone in the next 12 months that could contribute more than Pops or Reese? That answer should be yes, therefore tlu don't redshirt them, you want their scholarship available ASAP.

As for Edwards, if he was gonna ever log big minutes it would be as a 3, we don't need help at that spot next year, therefore no need in redshirting him. Go out and get someone who you have 4 years with, or feel can contribute next year.

I do agree with you on all of that. I highly doubt any of those 3 would be considered to be a redshirt candidate. But they need to find at the very least a Top 100-150 type post player in the spring to fill Stokes' void when he leaves. I imagine there will be someone in either TN or Ga that pops up in the spring that we can ink that would fill that void.

Personally I hope they can find a good JUCO big to bring in, assuming Stokes indeed leaves. Turman will be good but will need a year IMO at least, I'm not sure how confident I feel of our chances with Pops starting.

A guy like Hurt would've been nice, but I'm sure someone will pop up in the JUCO ranks, a guy like Keanu Post last year.

Or a one year transfer like Barton is this season. But it needs to be someone who could come in and probably start if thats the route they take. Yes a JUCO guy like K. Post is probably the most likely route they will go.

Yea a guy like Tarik Black this year would be ideal.

Don't understand why everyone just assumes that Stokes is going pro. Not really a big NBA prospect unless he really has a breakout season this year. I personally don't see it. Choice could come down to playing professionally in Europe or one more year with the Vols.

Because he was so close to leaving last year. He won't be playing in Europe, he'll have a spot in the league.

Exactly to thick and too good of a rebounder not to be in the league. He may have to play in the D league for a couple of years before he becomes a contributor, but at some point I see him being very good for someone off the bench in the association.

Not saying he want make the NBA but the league is not exactly overflowing with 6-8 centers that can't shoot. I believe that he will have to develop at least a mid-range shot. Good news is that he is still young enough to do this. My point is that he is far from a shoe in.

He has a mid range jumper. He showed it his freshman year, but last year he didn't attempt any cause we needed him down low. I disagree I think he is a shoe in, it's just when will he be there. Next year? Maybe after his senior year? He won't ever be a star and maybe he will never be a starter, but he will definitely be in the league. Someone will take a shot on that potential.

And if you don't think a 6-8 center can make it in the league just look up Dejuan Blair, and he is 6-7 at most

The draft is chock full of players who made a mistake by entering every year. Just because it may not be wise for him to leave early doesn't mean he won't do it. He almost did it this year. I wouldn't hold my breath expecting him to return.

Agree. Sometimes a player just has to take a shot at it cause he knows it's his best chance to make it.
