also in order for the clock to start someone has too touch the ball. The ball could of bounce 1,000 times but the clock can't start untill someone touches it.

true...the Memphis player certainly touched it.....but .. did the clock start rolling before he touched it ....I don't remember..........

That was the problem, the clock did not roll. It did not move at all during the actual play. The refs had to watch the replay and used a stop watch to time from when it hit the Memphis player's hand to when it touched the media member sitting at the table.
