Refs need to start having consequences for doing their job poorly.

It’s beyond time. Sick of it being the one of the few jobs in this country where you can be as terrible and never having to face any consequences. Fine them. Suspend them. Fire them. They know they’re untouchable. Officiating in the SEC in particular has been hot garbage for 20 years now. Embarrassing for “the best conference in college football”. Why are these jokers untouchable?

It's really bad. I don't really know what can be done unless it becomes a full time job.

Only thing I know to do is stop supporting it until they do something. If they are still making money, they have no incentive to fix it. Clearly shaming them and ridiculing them isn't working.

I am no conspiracy theorist, but there have to be some refs that gamble. We've seen gambling scandals with NFL and NCAA players. It is not a stretch of logic to believe that there are refs that gamble. My question is, "What do the governing bodies do to ensure that refs don't gamble?" How are they policing this? Has anyone heard of any system or operating procedures to police gambling by officials?

You nailed it, friend.

There are definitely teams that get favorable officiating and others that get hosed constantly. It has nothing to do with winning either.

Tennessee was 11-2, won the orange bowl, and was ranked #1 for a bit last year. The officiating this year has been even worse.

UF on the other hand still gets every call, and they stink on ice.

No transparency on their accountability!
If and that’s a big IF, there is any accountability at all.

It is hurtful to me as a fan to watch them get so much wrong. Frustrating.
I hurt for the players too.
It has to just cause them to rage when our defenders are held, tackled by blockers, and no one calls very much of it.

I wanted a statement issued on last weeks umpiring performance vs Florida. I cannot believe we have to heard anything about it. Did a reporter not try to get a response to it?

The Austin Peay game to me had to be dirty.
The failure to overturn the no fumble call is still shocking to me. That's one thing to miss it live, although it looked pretty obvious to be live on TV. That's quite another to be able to review it, clearly see that he "made a football move" after the catch, and still say it was incomplete.

There really ought to be some kind of procedure where they have to report out any gambling before participating in refereeing activities. Also, if they lie about it, they can be subject to disciplinary action such as fines or removal.

The face mask on Nico was worse.

Not enough. They need to spend a few weekends in the jail in the town of the team they hosed. Justice.

Since the beginning of time there has been gambling. Since the beginning of time gambling has been ran by organized crime. You can't have one without the other. Period. Fact. When sports invited Vegas to get involved, the bookies, bag men, and all the rest came with it. The people in charge did this for 1 reason. They were given bags of $$$$. I would love to see what their bank accounts did over the last 5 years.

Even if they don't gamble, they're human like us. You know they have teams they like, and teams they despise, and that's going to play a part in them calling a game. He k, if I was a red, I'd be throwing flags on bama, Georgia, and Florida every play🤣

The one that stands out to me was a few years ago against Bama. We rushed up to the line to run a play from like the 5 yard line and the Alabama defense was so confused they had no idea what was going on. The ref literally stopped the game for no reason so Alabama could get set on defense. I was just in disbelief that it would be so obvious.
