Reggie Bush Investigation

....and that's what would happen.

NCAA would take away wins, and then like Hat said, the AP/BCS would decide to invalidate the title.

I'm all for it.

You can't tell me that someone at USC didn't know this was happening.
Suspicion is hardly ground for forfeiture.

Educate me.

It's the same story except the supposed benefits were nowhere near as extravagant. A lot of people were convinced it was a pay for play deal, but the NCAA and SEC determined there was nothing there.

The difference in Tee and Bush is this..........Bush is one of the greatest college football players of all time. He is a huge target, and the way the media covers stuff is drastically different than in '99

Again, what will happen, if anything is that the NCAA will invalidate the games, and then the AP and BCS will have to choose if they want to invalidate their choice as National Champs.

So what? That still doesn't give the NCAA any power over the AP or the ESPN/Coaches poll.
It DOES, however, give them the ability to take away the win in the bowl game... forfeiting it to their opponent, which then would force the Coaches poll to give it to Oklahoma per the BCS rules. At best you could try and call it a split championship like they did with LSU's...

Technically it could happen, but all they could really do is start a chain reaction that might or might not occur.

I don't think any of this really matters though.

Would it be possible to find something more meaningless to draw conclusions about?

I'm just pointing out that the NCAA DOES have power in the matter. If you read the thread, the speculation is that they don't have it. They most certainly do.

I'd still argue that they really don't have the power to do anything about the National titles. They can't take away something they don't give in the first place.

Remove team bowl eligibility-> OU gets win in BCS title game-> Coaches poll has to recognize winner of BCS game.

If they took away that win, I don't see how you could say that it DOESN'T go to OU. I mean, the reality of it is, it just adds drama to the title. The titles have always been muddy, and until they do a playoff (not gonna happen folks) they will be muddy.

:BANGHEAD2:

We're talking about taking away titles and giving them to a team that got its ass handed to them. Ridiculous on so many levels.

True. But would it be anything new for the NCAA? I'm just pointing out what the rules are/were, not saying they were necessarily right.

I can bet a lot of players over the past years on various national championship teams have gotten some benefit. Going to take everything away? Clarret got benefits. I had a coach who played for OSU say he got benefits. Happens all the time.

I don't see why the NCAA has to cry about this. If someone is stupid enough to give you money, thats their problem. The NCAA should grow up.

If you are a good player, playing for a top tier school, you are getting benefits. It has gone on for a long time and will never stop.

You're going to get benefits at any school. It is a way of life. Some get out of hand, and others are just 100 dollar handshakes. I am quite sure that nothing will come of this. The media darling will be swept under the rug.
