I'm worried about a meltdown on this thread come NSD...think some of the guys who don't follow as close are coming over and asking about guys like Hardman and Simmons..and saying "if this happens will we end up 8-10"..right now I just hope we can get Warrior, Byrd, Bailey, and Williams and stay in the top 20 in recruiting

Surely you have more important things to worry about. If not you've got a great life.

I agree with you on this but it would be the 1st time since Butch arrived that we wouldn't have a top 10 class. That's a little concerning but nothing to fall over about I guess. I expected us to have a top 10 class again.

We're going to need them every year if we want to get back to where we used to be as an always championship(SEC & national) contending program. We must be able to compete with BAMA for that top recruiting class every year to get there.

If you don't recruit top 10 every year then you have to have great coaches. And, well... we don't.

We are recruiting well, we only have so many spots. I can't wait till signing day and once again the Vols and this staff will shut up all this negative crap. It's the same crap every year, recruiting is not a perfect science. If this staff hasn't convinced some of you that they can't recruit and develop players then nothing ever will. I guess if we end up 12th with this class that some of you will say it isn't good enough because 247 or rival or whomever doesn't have it in the freakin top 10 all is lost. Geesh some of you all are kneejerk overreaction city. GBO!

I care more about how we rank within the conference honestly. Right now we are 8th. I'd obviously like to move up into the top third.

A lot of people are focusing on the number of spots available, but our number of commitments (outside of LSU 22, OM 22, FL 26) is pretty comparable. We sit at 17, same as Bama, Auburn and Arkansas. UGA has 16. A&M 19. So we are pretty much in line.

Bottom line-it'll be ok.

What are the chances we lose any of our current verbal commits? If so, who is the least solid to us?

There has been some chatter about the possibility of B. Buchanon taking a visit to OSU this weekend. If that visit happens, I think all bets are off on him. The rest seem solid right now, but it's silly season. Anything can happen.

We better cause we are not getting Brown, Daniels or Dickerson. Byrd is questionable as well.

You are correct sir...and Hurd and Dobbs are transferring as well; Sutton is going to the CFL and Maybin has decided to graduate early and practice law in the Dooley firm. Hart is refusing to fix the field and Bama has cancelled our home and home until he does. Rocky Top will no longer be our fight song and purple and green will be our new team colors..but Butch has said he will build it all back...you guessed it brick by brick! GBO:peace2:

Wonder how we rank in conference if you take all 85 on the roster. Also what would be avg ranking of the commits if you didn't add all the points together for the total but only took the avg per player.

Hmm, Idk. Good questions. Maybe one of the guys who really keeps up with this stuff might know.

You tell students that:eek:hmy:? You must teach HS, if I told my students that I would get half my a** chewed off. I would also get the question "What is sperm" from about half of them:).

If you don't recruit top 10 every year then you have to have great coaches. And, well... we don't.

I disagree with that. We might not have great coaches at all job positions but we do have what I consider a great head coach. Even with a great head coach we still need to be in the top 10 recruiting classes every single year to make it back to the top.

That's never going to be easy when we have to compete in the recruiting war against the likes of BAMA, Florida, Ole Miss, LSU, Georgia, South Carolina, Texas A&M every single year.

Those are the main schools because of their SEC counterpart to us. We also have to add all 5 power conference schools to the mix so it's not easy task to get the top talent every year but we've made progress since Butch got here.

It's just this year it seems we're a little behind from past years with Butch but on NSD we can make a move like we have in the past. I say we might end up being a top 10 but it will be cutting it close. I'm going to predict around 11-13 in final class rankings but I hope we go higher.

Well, Butch might leave for Michigan after Harbaugh is fired for excessive sleepovers, but no worries-- Kiffin is available and itching to return to Knoxville, where Layla wants to open a mattress store.

OK, so the consensus is that Brown, Warrior and Byrd are in and it has been said that we only have 1 scholly left.

If Kongbo, Dickerson and Daniels all want in, who do you think we take. I know its not popular but I say all and just like Brown last year, we drop some to make room.

I am assuming that Zach ross would be a swap with Young if the reports are true so I didn't include him.
