I remember being one of the only one to argue that Woolridge was not a "waste of a scholarship" and roundly mocked. Well, 10 pts., 7 boards and a block tonight.

Good call, guys.

Like I said a few months ago, he's not a world beater, but he definitely can contribute.

I thought he played outstanding. Let the team in in rebs and hit some shots. would like to see him take a bit less threes but if they keep leaving him wide open then I guess he should take the shot.

BTW, that missed dunk he had would have been a top 10 play on ESPN had he thrown it down

Swiperboy is an athlete and has a big body. If he puts in the effort he should be able to contribute quite nicely the rest of his career here.

He definitely stepped up tonight and played one of the better games of his career.

I thought he played his best game. I think he just needs playing time. Kenny Hall had a great game too. I think both will bloom over the coming weeks!

He's worth a scholly but has a lot of growing to do. With the size he has, he should be attacking the basket instead of looking to shoot from the arc. I was really impressed with how well he attacked the glass and thought a few of his drives were impressive.

I rarely post, mostly read, but I can't help myself here. Are you guys serious? How long have you been watching basketball? Have you ever played? Woolridge got dominated in the ROCKY TOP LEAGUE. He has zero basketball skills or IQ. I wish Woolridge was good, I really do, but to say he actually is good is laughable. He can hardly dribble the ball. Whatever the person that recruited him saw to want to bring him here is beyond me. Of all the athletes out there that try rapping, he would be the first where one can actually say "he should stick to rapping."

Kids with zero basketball skills don't get 10 and 7 in a major D-1 game. I think you should stick to the "rarely post" part of your message, especially if you want to use the Rocky Top League as justification.

It's Charlotte!!! He's not very good and I stand by that. His shot is NOT fluent, somehow 2 3's dropped, 1 certainly by the grace of God, and he moves very awkwardly with and without the ball. He's a bust considering his 4* recruiting ranking out of high school. Will he contribute? Sure, but nothing like he was expected to considering his lofty ranking. Without his last name he would have maybe been a 3*, more like a 2* though. And just to clarify, I was a woolridge guy and was really excited about him joining/contributing to this team. But he's put more time/emphasis on his music career while on a UT bball scholarship than he has developing his bball game.

I've been saying the same thing for awhile now. The only thing that pisses me off about him. Now that he will be seeing considerable playing time, I really hope he improves.

GBO!

We must be the only realistic UT bball fans that don't wear orange goggles.

Oh and don't you know, if you say anything that could be considered negative about UT, there are some posters that argue you should quit posting.... Great logic.

He had a good game against Charlotte.... That's all it is. "A" good game. I'll need some consistent performances against SEC caliber talent before I change my mind about him being a 4* bust. Based on his previous performances, I don't think that's unreasonable.

I rarely post as well, but I couldn't help but address this post. To say that he has ZERO basketball skills is ridiculous. I have not been a Swiperboy fan, mainly because of his perceived desire to rap instead of play ball. However, I think he has some potential. Sure he needs to mature (physically and mentally) but he has some talent. He has a pretty good shot and IMO just needs some more PT. ZERO talent kids don't play DI sports. Give Swipe some credit. He played well and depending on what shakes out from these arrests, could play a big role this season.

I certainly think the jury is still out on him, but I think a lot of people expect Pearl recruits to be like Devoe robo-ball recruit. We have to realize that this just is not Pearl's style, and his players will reflect that. They will make boneheaded mistakes and look bad sometimes, because they are encouraged to take chances and be creative (have fun).

Having said that, I think Woolridge has a long way to go, and it will be interesting to see if Pearl coach him up to his considerable potential.

I think that, and Hall's development, are two of the more intriguing stories (on-court) of this basketball season. Ok, throw McBee in there as well.

Then why not post more? We need more real and less of the blind.

Ah, yes the "realistic" crew that conflates this idea with criticism or dogging someone/something. I don't care whether or not you post or not, but don't pretend to be a victim if you are going to be negative about the program on their website.

Who cares what star level some service gave him at this point? It's what he can contribute and my argument was that he could/will contribute to this program as opposed to those who were saying he was "worthless" and a "waste of scholarship". He's not. He'll get his opportunity now and do some things to help us.

As far as the rapping, I've never understood why that's such a big deal other than the fact that fans see him doing it and get pissed because he's not spending 12 hours practicing in the gym. There are other things they can do, you know.

True, but it appears to a lot of people, including myself, that he spends more time on rapping than ball. UT did not bring him here to rap, he is here to hopefully be a contributing member to the team. More importantly, I would rather him rap then sling drugs and tote guns.:)
