Renaldo Woolridge

I'm aware I misspelled a word but didn't feel it was worth the time or energy to correct it as it was pretty obvious what the point was.

The spelling police usually come out when they have nothing of substance to say.

I also find it hoomeruss =) that ppl only comment on spelling when they've lost a debate or have run out of 1-liners! Haha

There's no reason to give a substantive reply to nonsense posts from people who have been here 10 minutes and profess to have such a great idea of how things work here. When you finally post something worthy of debate, which will be an upset on par with Chaminade over Virginia, you'll get something other than ridicule in response.

What he means- I'm so intelechooally superior to you and your thoughts that the only thing I could possibly do is to utter some BS about how no1 is as smart as me, and I've been here the longest so that makes all my opinions FACT. Anyone who DARES to challenge my authority will be crucified by me and my cheerleaders. (After we finish our circle jerk, of course) I know that his true feelings are so remarkably covered up=) so I pulled the veil off for you.

Ahhh, so there it is. The post count comeback. Long lost cousin to the spelling police reply. I was wondering if you had it in you to pull this one out of your bag of tricks. Truly disappointing effort. :bad:

It has nothing to do with post count. You've been here about a week, yet you mention what you have and haven't seen people post around here. You've made your position clear. You're a Pearl honk who has nothing to add that the rest of The Pearlite Choir hasn't already said a million times. That makes it easier for me to simply lump you in with the Refugees From Hoopsville and the rest of the Tanning Bed Worship Society. If you ever come up with something that isn't in the "He's Not Wade Houston/We Were #1 For 8 Minutes/I Love That He Signs Autographs For The Snot Nosed Kids and Diaper Wearing Geriatrics" Prayer Book, let me know.

First of all, you do know there is the option of reading without signing up and posting right?

People like you are a dime a dozen and the only thing you bring to the table are cute little quips. Like they say, write something well and it makes you look smart. Style over substance.

If you ever want to drop your junior high name calling act I'd be glad to talk basketball in a civilized manner. Until then, don't act all surprised and play the victim card if you're called out on it.

I haven't been on VN long but I'm beginning to see a pattern. Some are claiming that they are just "not drinking the kool-aid", " taking off the glasses", or "keeping it real". But, calling someone "worthless", "a waste of a scholarship", or condemning them for pursuing something other than basketball while in school is wrong and really not your place. I think that level of rancor and negativity has become the norm on this board and has emboldened some to the elevated level or criticism that is now rampant here. It surely is not objective, as some have implied. It is purely speculative, unqualified, and seems to be directed mostly at the coach and it turn, filters down to select players.

I guess a better way to put that would be; if Pearl wasn't the coach, some of the posters wouldn't be so hard on the players. You want him gone so badly, that it colors your judgement of the team; the worse they perform, the more likely Pearl will be gone, and you can get a "better" coach. That is the definition of prejudicial. You harbor a bias against Pearl (not for race, religion, etc.... mind you) but for his perceived inabilities. That bias opens the rest of the team up to a greater level of scrutiny based upon the feelings you have for him....

Why would I waste my time? You're nothing more than just another in the long line of Pearlophiles who puke forth the same inane defenses. Of course, his performance isn't giving you guys anything new to work with. Until Bronzer actually accomplishes something that remotely validates the slobbering adoration he gets from the Refugees and the rest of their ilk, the debate is stale.

Show me where I've leveled unwarranted criticism at a player, then I might grant you have a point.

I haven't seen any posts where you have done that...

I've already asked you about 5 questions. You seem to know more than anyone else. Your criticisms would fall under the "qualified" category, in my opinion; some just seem to be flame-throwing...

Thank you for again proving my point.

Here is what I read: Blah, blah, blah, I hate Bruce Pearl, blah, blah, tanning bed, blah blah, orange, blah, blah, bronzer, blah, blah, blah, Pearlophiles, blah, blah, blah.

At least be original. Talk about puking forth the same garbage day in and day out. Why would ANYONE want to discuss basketball with you when that is your answer every single time?

Don't get me wrong, I know you dislike Pearl, hatvol, but that goes with the territory when you're making a cool $2 million a year. It's like Ok St coach Mike Gundy shouldering the blame a couple of years ago. Pearl's a "grown man". He's the one that does warrant the majority of the criticism for perceived under-performance.

These guys playing basketball are getting room and board and an education, but they are bringing in plenty of revenue. If TBA has 17-20,000 people every game and the SEC has a huge TV contract that pays UT, then the players are more than paying for their scholarships. Other students in Tennessee get the HOPE scholarship for being decent students and, I guess, just being a TN resident.

I'm not sure I'm getting your point. The guy making the money should certainly get the majority of the heat. However, I see someone saying Woolridge is a "waste of a scholarship" differently than you do. Is it a harsh way to say Tennessee needs to recruit guys better than him? Yes, but I don't take that to mean anyone wants him drawn and quartered. Any player, especially the son of a former NBA player, knows his performance is going to be under a micriscope at a big time program. If a guy doesn't want that pressure, they can always go play at Pepperdine.

Since we are specifically looking at Swiperboy, I'll expand upon my last point. He has not gotten very much playing time until the last game. In that game, although not perfect, he exhibited skill, hustle and drive. He contributed 10 points, 7 rebounds, and was 2-5 on three pointers which was better than the team's overall percentage of 38%.

The verdict is still out on him. He's early in his sophomore year, and could still be a good player for UT. As an aside, his father was also known as a late bloomer. Not to say that he is on the level of his father, but Renaldo's career at UT is far from over, and to deem him a "waste of scholarship", which was my initial complaint, is premature and incendiary.

Hey, my wife went to Pepperdine. Former Vandy coaches don't fare to well there either though.

I thought Woolridge played a lot better against Charlotte than I expected. However, he isnt anywhere close to aggressive enough in the paint. Hopefully, with the team leaning on him a little more since all the suspensions, he will step up his game.

Woolridge is 12 games into his sophomore season. Too many people expect kids to come in and tear it up their freshman year. When they don't they're labeled a bust.

He has gone from very little role to now a much more prominent role, now will be the time to see how good of a player he is.

To label a kid a bust this early in his career is silly though. It's a HUGE transition from high school to college basketball and college life. I think (but I could be wrong) it was Bobby Knight who said the best thing about freshman is that they become sophomores.

I don't see anything wrong with taking that position.

I can tell you've been around the program for a while and have extensive knowledge of college basketball. I'm sure it gets annoying when newbies come on here and spit the same tired arguments you've been reading and defeating for many moons. That is why you're condescending, at times, I'm sure. It seems to go both ways, honestly...

But, some of the posters on here get downright hateful and post trash disguised as criticism. I'll take that up with them if it's warranted, and they feel they're up to it. It's easy to defeat a flame-thrower.
