Rennia Davis WNBA Draft Prospects

This is going to be such an interesting legacy of Rennia Davis. Though her headspace has always been an issue, I've never perceived it as pouting either. But lots and lots of LV followers do, and will always think that about her. Disappears. Doesn't step up. No superstar mentality. We hear it everytime she is not able to singlehandedly bail us out. To some extent its actually true; while obviously extremely talented, consistency has always escaped her. But I've never thought it due to lack of caring or trying.

I hope Rennia writes a book about her experience as an LV someday. She has been on the whole roller coaster ride. The final, awful days of the Holly drama seemed to really weigh on her. Remember how obviously lost and down she was? If she finishes strong, on a decent competitive team, its full circle for her, and hopefully also for the program. Let it Be.

Recently heard that this year is the first time Rae has ever had the same coach two years in a row. Never did in HS either. Maybe just that stability is part of her growth this year. Sometimes we forget how much the backstage drama of revolving coaching staffs can effect players like Rae and Re.
Perceptive and sensitive comments about Rennia, glv98. I hope she writes a book also. I believe the big thing about Rennia is she allows the game to come to her. This is a very good attitude in normal game time situations. However, this attitude hurts Rennia when a game is on the line and she needs to take over the game. A contrast to Rennia are players like Chelsea Dungee of Arkansas, Aari MacDonald of Arizona and Dana Evans of Louisville. These women are clutch in big games that are close. None of these women are more talented than Rennia, in my opinion. I emphasize "my opinion".

I agree. Killer instinct is tough to turn off and on at will. On the other hand, that laid back attitude really helps when there's a teammate like this year's Rae Burrell. Sometimes that can cause real friction but Rennia seems perfectly chill when Rae steals the thunder. Hopefully we'll see a good balance the rest of this season.

Yep she is going but for the life of me i cant see her in top 6. Talent wise maybe but in a grinding WNBA schedule if she pouts like she does with us often she will not last long! I do think this is partly Hollys fault because Kellie has her doing better. Good luck to her!
I've never heard or seen her pout and neither have you.
She has always given her all and I for one appreciate that
she and KK never left. She deserves more from you.

I think the missing draft ingredient is Rennia showing she has floor leadership skills along with the consistant ability to take over a game. We've seen glimpses of both many times this year and there were a few games when she brought both and they dominated. I think she knows that in order to win championships, her teammates have to win their battles. Her passing instead of shooting is more about her teammates rather than herself. Really like that she is battling on the boards.

I watch every game and I have eyes. I don’t see her pout.
Ok if it’s not pouting then during those games or spurts in games over here lady Vol career where she just stopped playing hard what do you think it is?

Folks, Rennia will be a top 5 pick. Pro scouts don't micro analyze a player's facial expressions and review hours and hours of game film trying to discern her inner mood states.

They assess skill set, size, athleticism, and basketball IQ and whether a player has what is needed to fit in their system. Rennia checks a lot of important scouting boxes. No one needs or expects an WNBA rookie to be a Michael Jordan/Kobe team leader right out of the gate. And no scout or WNBA coach will care if Rennia is poker faced so long as she is hitting shots and grabbing rebounds.

I say glides,,,Some athletes work to run, some seem to glide,,,

consider, how many times in a game is Rennia last down the court? (almost never) ...
first or second down the court? (consistently)

rewatch the game, then get back to me on this

It seems that Rennia's stoic demeanor befitting her naturally-shy personality can be intetepreted negatively. We've certainly seen Rennia show the fire in her belly when taking over in second half of games or when showing her willingness to mix it up with opposing players who want to tussle.
