If you recall or watch the videos of the games in the 80s and even 90s (and of course before) I think Down The Field was played more than Rocky Top, which overtook it in the 90s iirc.

Rocky Top is so in the heads of the teams we play and their fans and so iconic that I would never want it supplanted. But Down The Field should always be played, too. But DTF is more a big play song, not a 3rd Quarter song.

I can remember as a kid "playing" down the field with our voices when we were talking about an upcoming game. Da da da da da da...
