I heard some talk today that there is a possibility of promoting someone and hiring from within if the right man can't be found quickly. The thought is with Spring Practice only two weeks away it would be better to go with someone who is already familiar with the offense. Salary will also be a consideration, which is why Larry Porter and Tim Spencer are probably not viable candidates.

Does anyone know who on the extended staff could be a candidate?

Personally, I will be shocked and disappointed if we can't land a name coach who is a proven recruiter, given what's a stake with the 2013 season and 2014 signing class.

George Quarles- RB coach Tennessee, 125,000.00/year.

Value, winner, could recruit the state, heck of a on the field coach.

I like that. A lot of staffs do look to add a local high school when they get to a knew area, primarily to help wih recruiting.

Name a better option.

Hint: There isn't one.

Any option is better than Trooper.

You want to hire the guy who was not only right on the middle of the NCAA investigation at Auburn, but who also filed a racial discrimination suit because his sons black basketball coach would not let his son wear his hair braided.

He sounds like a genius to me.

Add to that his shady dealing with G Jones and some at AU even said he tried to get AU recruits to NOT choose AU after he was let go. I am all VOL so if he were hired, I would support him. I honestly just hope it does not happen.

Lol, the NCAA is a joke. Wouldn't be worried in the least.

Despite the financial condition of UTAD, coaching salaries should not be a problem . Spending millions of $$$ on mortar and bricks, equipment etc, and cheaping out on coach salaries is absolutely ridiculous .

I don't see why some of you are concerned about "shadiness."

Almost all teams (successful ones) cheat, and I couldn't care less if UT was a part of that group. It's the way the game is.

Hmmm...I don't know. Do we have any more balding white guys with subpar resumes we can promote and give raises to?

hmmmmmmm..........

I'm sure you fit the description nutsac, but you've proven your lack of knowledge of football over and over so we should probably look for another "expert" that we can get for a bargain.

I don't think the RB coaches salary is an issue at all. It has been said several times today that CBJ offered JG more money. He wanted to leave. I have no doubt that if CBJ can find the right guy, 200,000-275,000.00/YR will be available.

As long as there are snarky haters making clever comments I'm sure we can make some
