Pure ego and hubris.

In his mind's eye, everyone should feel sorry for him that he goofed and has to give up his seat. What he doesn't realize is that everyone, supporters and opponents, believes he brought it all on himself, especially the lying afterwards to cover.

Incidentally, how does one get the email or text message phone number for a top flight porn star? Gives me some ideas ....

What bugs me is that he (and others like him) never really fess up. Today he said he's resigning because of the "distraction". I've yet to hear him admit that lying to the press as vehemently as he did (bringing major network reporters in one by one) and blaming others of wrongdoing is a sign that maybe he shouldn't be a Representative.

Politicians can lie about serious things like wars all they want, but when one person lies about pictures of his dick on the internet he has to fess up and resign? Bull****.
