As I sit here tonight with a fifth of whiskey I remember an old friend who died 20 years ago this evening. I lay here with an old pet who I rescued years ago and they are letting me know their time is coming. I take a another drink to selfishly avoid fully accepting what they are trying to tell me, especially tonight. I'll be there for them in their final days. And when their time has come I'll break out the bottle again and drink to their memory.
