Rest In Peace

A-1-A is a fantastic album, as is White Sport Coat. I loved so many of his unknown songs: Death of an Unpopular Poet, Little Miss Magic, African Friend, Defying Gravity, Tin Cup Chalice, and more. To lose both on the same day really sucks.

I’ll always remember going to see him with an ex in Raleigh like 20 years ago. He came out and played Changes in Latitudes just him and an acoustic guitar to open the show. She looked at me and said this is going to be your favorite part isn’t it? And it was. I never cared for most of his famous songs except Come Monday, but this double whammy sucks.

He's never catoorgized as such usually but he's perhaps the greatest American folk singer. I like Denver too but I am unsure that he is representative of America as Buffet has been for a few generations. He was JUST so good he pretty much is his own genre of "Parrothead".. I'm a parrothead. "A Pirate Looks at Fourty" is my anthem, but I think my favorite is "He Went to Paris" ....I was a huge fan of The Razor's Edge (the book) and also later the movie (Murrey not Powers)...and my younger period was similar....looking for answers and skipping oceans when able. Naively looking for the meaning of life. I have had the pleasure of knowing some sunbaked old men who had such lives, and always treasured those conversations. Often in some dive at some far reached place. Not many people live life with such wonder. RIP buddy. I hope you found peace.

This is truly an artistic loss. There's no one like him. Just a lot of people impersonating him.

View attachment 574685My sweet sweet momma. She was doing so good following her surgery, had come home Tuesday night, and was seemingly crushing her recovery. Then dad completely unexpectedly found her unresponsive in their bathroom. A woman that has no equal. I have no other real words or sensical thoughts. RIP momma, I love you and already miss you more than I can put into words

I am so sorry to hear this VFB. No matter how old we get, Momma is Momma. Prayers with you and your family, and father. Momma's are the heart of families. :(

I live on a big round ball
I never do dream I may fall
And even one day if I do,
I’ll jump up and smile back at you

I know it was written by Jesse Winchester, but I always repeat this track every time I listen to Buffett

No words. They wouldn't help any way. So sorry for your loss and hurt. Thoughts and prayers for you and your family.

When he came to Stokely 44 years ago there was a rumor hitting the radio stations that he died in a plane crash (Skynyrd’s plane crash was just 2 years earlier). So when the show started there was just a guitar hanging on the mic stand.

Praying Jesus wraps his healing arms around you and your family and comforts you all with his promise of everlasting life.

Is that the year Marshall Tucker opened for him?
