Tiant and Mark the Bird Fidrych had quite the unique mound presence and delivery from that era. Rollie Fingers and Kent Tekulve too. Then Fernando Valenzuala just a few years later. Juan Marichel just a couple of years earlier. The 1970s MLB had some characters. The latter 4 are still with us.

Was a fan of all of them. Tekulve had the glasses also.

The Bird was such a huge phenomenon. His death was a tragic accident.

And yeah, the 70s had a lot of characters. Bill Spaceman Lee was another.
 
Not a pitcher but early 80s, Joe Charboneau was a character....drinking beer with a straw in his nose
 
Knucksie pitched in the seventies and beyond. Once, I watched him pitch 11 innings, get two hits, one a double.
