Rest In Peace

What I remember about Bill McCartney was that he acknowledged the 5th down but would not forfeit the game to Missouri because Colorado might be in contention for a national championship. Super Christian won’t do the right thing because his team might be voted national champs… He was the poster child for what was wrong with college football. Of course, AP writers rewarded his poor character with an NC vote, buncha drunken, sleazy sports hacks. Georgia Tech had a better bowl performance and are the only national champs I acknowledge from that year.

Saying McCartney had poor character is ridiculous.
Black is white, left is right, up is down, and not doing the right thing is OK because you prayed to Jesus and believe yourself forgiven?

We’re going to disagree on this. Have a nice day, now. Ya hear?

If they had the downs right, he calls a different game. Wasn’t his mistake to correct. He complained about the crappy field instead. Also apologized for his lack of graciousness years later.

He’s a Missouri grad as well.

In before Tin says he had poor character.
Uecker and pretty much the entire cast of Major League are what got me interested in baseball at such an early age. Still one of my favorite films. I thought it was pretty cool that at 9 years old my first team was called the Indians too. RIP Mr. Uecker

I still watch that at least once a year.

We went to the theater to see something, but it was sold out so we ended seeing Major League instead.
