Not quite yet, but we're getting there. Got to stock up on upper tier OL-men, have an annual treasure trove of DL-men, and DBs, maintain reliable list of interchangeable RBs. Keep that weight room ringing and clanging, producing hard hitting guys no one really wants to play against. We coming. We coming.

Yeah, I am good with ALMOST LIKE!!!!! Just not matching experienced depth yet.

Go back and watch one of Nico's fumbles. His second one I believe. OK defender hit his helmet/facemask with about as much force as Arion Carter hit Hawkins. But no call.

It shouldn't have been called in either situation

The curse of being more observant.. Everyone thinks you’re crazy because you pay more attention. 😅

I agree we are getting there. This years defense has been fun to watch. I am eager to see how they fair against a good offense, but they way they fly to the football and lay the lumber has been very promising. This is the hardest hitting defense Tennessee has had in a very very long time. Jakoby Thomas is a straight pitt bull at Safety and my favorite player to watch.

Very different. With due respect, Fulmer coached in a much less balanced era. The talent he assembled should have beaten most of the teams on their schedule. Based on recruiting rankings, Fulmer just didn't win consistently against teams with equal much less greater talent. Spurrier outcoached him, out developed him, and out recruited him. Some of those losses were down right ugly. Saban very quickly left him in the dust.

Heupel OTOH has outperformed his talent and depth by any measure. He is now assembling more talent and depth. The culture is excellent. The approach is excellent. The development is exceptional.

And for those of us who actually remember the Fulmer days... discipline wasn't good before or after the NC. Vol players routinely "made the news" for all the wrong reasons. Those embarrassments have been pretty minimal with Heupel.

I think the real difference was that Spurrier “out-aggressived” Fulmer. And I think that is why Florida always seemed to play faster and looser in those games.

Thankfully, we now have the coach who takes being the aggressor to another level.

We might be, we just won’t know until we get quite a few more games on the board. If this team can continue to stack up solid performances and wins over the next several weeks, it will answer the question.

We're getting more jImmy's and Joe's these days. Heupels offense is designed to do more with less. The X's and O's were used to neutralize the Jimmys and Joes. Heupel has a nice combination of both now,
so we might have enough already to run the tables. GBO!!

There are some very good teams out there, so am not ready to listen to the Urban Myths. Watched the VA Tech/Miami game and parts of the GA/BAMA game this weekend and not for a second do I think we could dominate either of those 4 teams. Win yes, but dominate? No, not yet.

Sorry Urb, not falling for your bait.
Indeed. This team will have ample opportunities to show just what it's made of starting this Saturday. Let's see how they handle all the hype. Let's not forget that Nico is still just a RS freshman and the SEC doesn't usually treat youngsters at that position kindly. Plus we're an injury or two at the wrong positions from being behind the 8 ball this season. And let's be honest. While we've played who they put in front of us so far, it's not exactly been murderer's row so far. Despite the "name" opponents like NC State and Oklahoma, it really has been a very, very soft start to the season. Something tells me that is going to change soon.

We'd beat the brakes off Miami and VT. Miami is poorly coached and VT is just bad.
Been watching college ball since the 60s. Not so fast my friend, not so fast.

Just curious: Did you watch both games or just making assumptions on your football prowess?
