Poor poor pitiful me. If you can't handle the stardom and the Perks that go with it, you are a major head case. And that is exactly what RC was/is. Let me try to handle 700K in cash for a couple years. Meanwhile people are wondering where their next meal is coming from. Where they can find a warm dry place to sleep tonight. THAT is stress. Geeze Man. GTHO.

I have no doubt Rex had his pockets lined regularly, but that $700k number seems exaggerated. Deandre Ayton (Arizona) was getting $10k/month just a few years back and he would be much more valuable than Rex. I suspect that figure is half a million too high for that timeframe.

Reading Rupps Rafters the other day…this shocks me! The Vols are dirty and invented cheating. It was all on the up and up BN…Before Nico. 😏
Well, they're called wildcats, it follows then that they're wildly delusional. And Oil Can Harry assured me this is gumpal truth.

If you extrapolate a few years later when Emery package addressed to RECRUIT Chris Mills burst open and $1000 cash spilled out? How much were they taking care of their SIGNED players? Always thought it was funny that the money fountain for basketball in programs like Kentucky, Kansas and UNC gets tightened when football’s turn comes up. Can’t outflash them in roundball but their football HC washes the uniforms and drives the team bus. 😏

Rex was getting his pockets lined dating back to his high school days.

That $700K number sounds like a stretch for one season, but isn’t too far fetched considering he was getting money before he got to UK, in addition to the other bidders for his services during recruitment (UNC, Kansas, etc.), plus whatever cash he got when he was in Lexington.

True. He was a legend and a brand in the state way before NIL and Kentucky had their Saban level bagman act perfected decades beforehand. I remember his first game against their bitter blood foe Louisville and he could’ve banked a mil for that performance alone.

Especially in the 80s.
Actually is was much easier to launder money in the 80s than it is today. I worked for a large insurance company during those years. The most successful individual life sales division was Miami. Drug dealers from everywhere would come to these guys & buy whole life participating life policies on themselves, make the maximum premium payment $millions!) & then take out a loan for the entire cash value. Hiding $700k would have been easy
