Richard Dawkins -vs- Billy Graham

Ok, this may need it's own thread, but same question, this time compare CS Lewis and Richard Dawkins.

This is a top of the line apples vs oranges thread.

You are obviously not familiar with Billy's work. Its like someone handed a keyboard to a pedophile with the simplistic intelligence of a 6 year old who has just discovered silly putty.

Does your caregiver know you are playing on the computer ?

At the end of the day it will still be opinion based. I'm saying I see enough evidence to say Dawkins is the smarter guy. You don't agree, fine.

I would like to know what objective evidence can conclusively show one way or the other. If not than this whole debate is academic. I believe I see enough evidence to say Dawkins is more intelligent. You obviously don't. We will never get a clear answer.

The assumption I am making about Graham ends at him being a religious capitalist, which ins't even really an assumption. That puts him, at the least, in the same conversation as Robertson, Falwell, and the like.

All I would say is that you know a huge amount more about one guy than the other. If you did read some of Grahams work or listen to his talks you would have something to compare.

For those surprised that God has spoken to me have you not read where Jesus said in John chapter 10 that "My sheep hear My voice"?

All genuine christians hear His voice at some level. Only once can I say that I actually heard an audible voice the rest of the time it comes as impressions or God just shows me things as I read His Word.

Even the time that I heard His voice clearly, I was in a car with 3 other guys and I was praying privately and when He spoke to me I thought everybody in the car heard it but when I looked up nobody else acted like they had heard anything.

I would also venture that a huge percentage of folks who claim to be christians are not but that's another thread for another day.

You clearly misunderstood the scripture then, because Jesus said this before he was cruicified and it did not have the meaning that those who believe would audibly hear him centuries later. Not attacking your faith, but the out-of-context scripture you are quoting had a completely different meaning than what you are trying to infer here.

context is a b***h

According to scripture, which is all I have to go by, God does not talk or make appearances to people today. Jesus said the next time we will see Him will be as the lightening shines in the sky. And this is immediately after the great tribulation. Mathew 24:24-27 and Luke 17:24.

We do have the Word of God, and i'm very thankful for it because it teaches me how to live.

I've read it, but that has nothing to do with why I don't believe you when you say God spoke to you. I don't take anything in the Bible as literal, either.

Also, I absolutely love it when people call out other for not being "true Christians" like there's any set definition.

Plenty examples of this. A self proclaimed "christian" who is okay with murdering innocent people for special interest isn't a christian. Make sense?

No, I understand the justification behind some of them. However, there's probably someone that says you're not a true Christian because your opinion differs from his on something trivial. Besides, what happened to "thou shalt not judge" or whatever?

Church of Christ, we really need one.

The Holy Spirit serves the purpose of speaking. We often forget the Godhead is 3 in 1
