Wow, what a special guy. Of course we all know about his pitching career, he then comes back after an ACL last year and had 32 hr and 89 rbi in minor league this year. He's now hit 3 homers in just a handful of games with the Cardinals. What an inspiration.

This is crazy. I have been following his minor league progress through SI Mag.

He also had a great diving catch late in the game yesterday. This guy is finally getting some well deserved breaks.

me too... we watched him in memphis a few months ago and then got to watch him this weekend.... Ill be first in line when the Ankiel jerseys come out :rock:

actually saw the guy play a game against the sounds about a month ago, if memory serves correct he went 3-4 with a home run, and made an incredible diving play in the outfield, he is certainly a talent.

I was there Saturday. It was a great game, but I didn't think he was going to catch that ball he overran.

I saw the ball hit, saw Ankiel start to veer back to his right, said, "well, you can't catch them all"...he catches it, falls into a slide...and my brother says,

"I guess you can."

Good point.

in all fairness, it was a jack, that's all that matters. the cubbies had gotten within one run and he ended it. he also nailed ryan theriot at third to possibly save a run. through nine games he's batting .313. pretty impressive stuff
