Rick Barnes tells Okpara to never shoot another 3. Too funny.

Barnes calls it "lucky". I get that it was a shot to beat the clock, but it looked pretty damn pure to me.

Okpara's stroke on the shot looked smooth and textbook. What if he's a shooter and Barnes never knows? This is a problem I have with Barnes, he often doesn't know his players' full abilities. Let Okpara take some of these shots, teams would not be able to defend the big fella with a jumper. If he hits a few of them, it adds a for opposing teams to have to worry about defensively.

Barnes has always handcuffed guys, his whole career and it shows when they play tight. He should let them play more freely

Stick to funny memes dude!! J/K

I got the impression Barnes was mostly joking, since if he never shot another 3 he’d close out his college career shooting 100%.

I agree but didn’t we see Grant Williams get coached to being a three point shooter in the NBA after he never was at Tennessee. Never know young kids potential’s.
No. He worked on it hard his last year at UT. Made some big ones that year at times. Wasn't a volume guy with them by any means. His work on it with UT's staff, gave him the opportunity to carve a niche in the NBA

Does that not reflect my post?
No. Where are you getting that there was a push for him to shoot 3s his senior year? Unless I've forgotten that someone in the know said as much, what is there to point to that supports anything you said? If anything, his 3-point shot suffered over time at UT, but that's as big of a stretch as to say that Barnes & co had anything to do with his improvement in the NBA.

I specifically remember hitting a couple of big threes down the stretch his last year. One big one I know of against UK in the SEC tournament. I even remember the talk about him working on it his last year to get ready for the draft

what exactly do you think Barnes is missing? Should Ziegler be playing center? Does Okpara start raining practice threes as soon as Barnes turns his back? Lol.

It looked to me like Okpara was ready for the possibility that he had to shoot, running a pick and roll with nearly no shot clock. If he pops out to take the shot on that play once or twice a game that could do good things for the offense. Something tells me he shoots much worse than 100% from distance in practice.

Okpara was like 1-11 at OSU from three. I doubt Barnes is missing out on Brook Lopez. However I have always thought his stroke looks pretty good from the line and on some jumpers he has taken.
Yep, he normally is a miss from 1 for 11 pasts but in this case when the fans are counting down 3-2-1 the pressure is off. You miss you had no other choice. You just happened to have the ball actually a no loss shot, coach would get on you if you held it and get a time shot Vio.
