I agree. Clausen's head was not his problem the arm he was given was. Since when did a coach have to be a great athlete to be successful? Charlie Weiss never even played college football.(CSpindizzy @ Jan 13 said:In all of the Rick-bashing I did I will say the kid had the KNOWLEDGE of the game but not the SKILLS to be the great player. Perhaps it was strength or whatever. Regardless I think as a GA he can be of great use. He's a good motivator. He's what Mike Bobo is to UGA.....not the best of QBs but knows the game and position enough to help make a difference for his QBs.

Therefore, Fulmer is rewarding a hard working former player with some experience to get his foot in the door to coach. All this conspiracy recruiting angles are ridiculous. If those are the things that motivate Fulmer's decision then CJ Leak would have been the starting QB his senior year.

Anige was once an awsome qb he will get better now that Cultcliff is in the program
I just hate the name clausen all together
I hate rick, Casey
i am just tired of the Clausen family
they havent done nothing for ut football
OWB if i aint mistaken i believe the GAs responsibilities are the same as Fulmers, stand around and clap. :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:(Orangewhiteblood @ Jan 13 said:Just what exactly do the GA's do? What are their responsibilities to the team?

We all know he wouldn't go to Miss State with Causey for any reason. I think Rick will be a great coach some day, where better to start then at UT, and some recruiting leverage to land Jimmy next year.
Every thing I read about Jimmy Clausen is great. At the Army all American game they said that he was the best all around player in high school now and for as far as they could remember back. They said he was a better player than anyone on the field that day and he is only a junior this year.

that usually is exactly what makes a good coach!(therickbol @ Jan 13 said:Anybody who is upset about this is letting anger blind their 'common sense' mode of thinking. The kid got by with very little physical tools because he was a very smart player who understood the game better than any player on our offense. So, what about that doesn't translate into a good coach?

I totally agree "therickbol".... Not by his choice, but by being somewhat less talented, Rick has spent many plays on the side lines and has been around every comment and decision made over the last 6 years of his career. Being there and learning the game from the coaching side, has allowed him to see the game from a coaching aspect. He had a command of our offence, second only to the great P. Manning... I had hope even during the season, that they would offer him this chance. Lets look at some of the greats.. The ones who were the best players are not necessarily the best coaches. Its actually right the opposite. Being on the sidelines or bench puts you with where decisions and strategy are made. What better place to learn. IMO he will be a great coach someday.(therickbol @ Jan 13 said:Anybody who is upset about this is letting anger blind their 'common sense' mode of thinking.
