Rickea Jackson Minutes

This Stanford game and all games against top five teams are of the utmost important to Jordan and Rickea as being seniors.
Draft status and future endorsements and accolades are effected by their performance in these top matches. Saying all this to say , if Rickea isn't starting or playing huge minutes
than WTF is really going on ?
At what cost? Or what price ? Or what punishment ? Or discipline? Or WTF ?
Then curiosity will really kill this cat. I would wanna know.

Very disappointed in the performance of the Lady Vols thus far this year and I will place most of the poor performance squarely on Harper’s shoulders. Should have had a starting 5 by the 5th game of the season rather than every 5 minutes playing a different unit. That’s what practices are for!! Seems to me that there is a different Harper on the bench this year and she can’t figure out why they are not just romping over everyone which she obviously expected before the season started. When OSU punched her in the mouth at the opening game and problems in the next few games, IMO she just panicked and hasn’t recovered yet. Whatever is going on between her and Jackson needs to be resolved and quickly for the betterment of both and the team as a whole. I’m not so sure that Harper doesn’t bear more responsibility for this than Jackson. Horston, Pucket, and Rickea should be three of the starting five. They are much better in the paint without Key. Unfortunately, it took a major health problem to determine that. Still has midget guards thinking that they can drive the paint on other’s six foot plus paint players and constantly getting shot blocked. Heading to conference play shortly so experimentation time is over. The next three months should determine whether Harper stays or she and Jon relocate!

I hope you swing back by around March 1.

You lost me when you said they are much better in the paint without Key. These loses are showing just how important she was to the team. She didn’t play healthy at all this season yet teams still feared driving on her and doubled her to limit her touches. A healthy Key is the difference in a lot of the loses. Key even with foul trouble has always played 25+ minutes a game and 30+ when she could avoid foul trouble. Brink, Kitley, and Boston all struggled against Key last season and those are by far the top post players. Out of the 3 Boston was the most successful and the majority of her points came against someone other than Key. Kitley struggled this year against an unhealthy Key.

As far as Kellie panicking, I see the opposite happening. These top teams exposed the Lady Vols weaknesses and humbled them early. They have went to work and improved these weaknesses. Turnovers, press break, defense, etc. 7-6 doesn’t look good but if it means improved SEC play and NCAA tournament play then the tough schedule would’ve been worth it. I guess everyone will see soon enough if it was the right call.

Certainly not going to challenge a coach not playing any player that they think is not doing what they need or participating like they need to participate in practice. No matter your talent level practice will make you better and make the team better. We may not be seeing the five most talented players on the team starting, but they are for sure the players most bought in to what the Coach is asking players to do. Looks to me like it may all be in the past and we could really see a very strong Tennessee team the rest of this season. It has to be over cause time to win and win a lot and I think we will.

Except she is playing her. When she feels like it.

If you want to bench her, fine. Play her, fine. But this indecisive jerking her in and out of the lineup continues to send mixed messages, make Kellie look weak, and is completely counterproductive to a team trying to build chemistry. Pick a lane and stick to your guns Kellie...

I agree. I believe Coach has made her point. It is now time to start winning games. RJ is needed to steady the ship. GBO.

I'm trying to remember, have we ever seen a player suspended, not allowed to dress out, for poor practice? Isn't the punishment for not practicing well just seeing your minutes go down? This seems like a bigger deal then dogging it in practice. Whatever it is, it's gone on too long, needs to get settled. We must develop flow and chemistry WITH RJ to be successful in the SEC. Or else move on.

To be fair, RJ would have played more against Stanford but got in foul trouble. Plus had the winded incident. KJH all but started her. I do wish Harper wouldn't be so married to the automatic sit out after 2 fouls in the first half. Use that big ole roster. RJ needs continuous minutes.

Huh? This makes zero sense, but it did make me laugh.

Stated the other day it seems personal by Kellie now. She either learned the lesson or she didn’t.

Jackson is a issue. Not quite sure what you all dont understand about this. You can run your mouth to coaches and expect not to have issues. A wonder she is still here. Needs to be sent packing as soon as possible. Cancer.

that person?
throws a lot of "stones"... it's a biblical thing
We don't know what the story is, only parts
we don't know if it was ,,effort,, backtalk,, birdie,,,We don't know!

All I know is I can't "cast a stone" until I know it worthy of the casting
and even then there is another biblical thing,,,forgiveness

I don't consider Kellie weak at all
Coach K sets a good example everything I have griped about of her, she has addressed...timeouts, working the refs,,not getting in her player's grill,,,I have see her do all of that in just this last game

I am 100 behind Coach K
100 behind Rickea
and 100 behind this team and its success

so there

How'd you come up with the nickname
NM
IC

and if you think this to be a personal attack,,imagine if RJ read your dribble

aggressive post, but yes many have said since the IU game she’s not buying into the team, coaches or both. Not sure sending her packing is the answer but it does seem they aren’t on the same page.
It seems we have a veteran coaching staff learning this situation as they go.

I can agree you can't have it both ways. She did and does need to take a stand one way or the other.

I too have been baffled and disappointed in how CKH has handled this situation. As I posted before, if the issue really is RJ's practice work rate or attitude, handing down "an indefinite suspension" seems like massive overkill. Unless RJ really lashed out a coach or player, it is hard to fathom icing your star player, who had been performing well--not only scoring, but rebounding, passing, and working hard on defense (with the one exception of the opening game). Player management and motivation is a big part of the coaching game and this does not seem like the way. Then CKH signaled she is back in the good graces, then more or less iced her again in the next game, and then expected her to save the team against Stanford. That's more like playing a mind game on a player and it seems to be about as counterproductive as possible.

Those "lost games" from RJ's perspective, were ones where the LVs could have gelled around a starting a line-up and crystallized the emerging chemistry between Jordan H. and and Rickea. That entire project has now fallen further behind schedule.

If the LVs go on a run and make it far into the NCAA tournament , CKH will come out looking great (see her tough love solidified the team!) but if things don't gel, she will have put herself in a precarious position.
