If you look at Jackson's frosh year 3FG shooting, that % is based on making a mere 13 threes. 13-31 indeed translates to 42%, yet a limited sample. In her soph and junior seasons she took twice as many attempted threes and her 3FG% dropped to 29.5% and subsequently to 24.3%. She does not qualify as much of a pure three gunner of note. Her overall FG% and attempts are the opposite in that she took 400+ as a healthy fros, and then in lesser games about 300 shots apiece in her soph and junior seasons. Nevertheless, her FG% went from 48% to 42% to 41%. That suggests her mid-range and drives are not as high a % of a typical pure shooter's pace.
LV Nation should cheer for the return of Frosh Jackson's shooting eye. But if she is taking 400+ shots, which Tenn players will give up 100+ or more of their shots to feed Jackson's higher amount of shots?
The roster in her sophomore year was fine...her coaching was not. They didn't have a center this season so they were pretty much a perimeter scoring team. All three years, she was playing alongside a solid PG.How was the team built from her freshman season ... sophomore... junior? Did she have help?
I know some may wonder why she didn’t even give South Carolina a look when they were in her top 7 out of HS and a very good chance of winning a Natty one reason I know for sure is because of the South Carolina fans on Twitter yes the same ones who like to make fun of Pat Summitts disease. We all know when Vic was at MS State SC and MS State had a heated rivalry and I vividly remember some of the fans making snide remarks about her over the loss and her calling them out and the SC fans going back and forth with her on Twitter. She likely did not forget those exchanges and didn’t give them a 2nd look
Moral of the story is don’t be an a** to other players like SC fans because that may come back to haunt you
