like I said in the OP, localism is still out there, given the way the Obama administration has used unaccountable agencies to do his bidding on other matters (the EPA, NLRB), it's only a matter of time before the FCC institutes (or tries to) localism.

And I'm against the Fairness Doctrine.

Doocy can say whatever he wants. I don't have a problem with him saying it, nor Fox broadcasting it.

Just grateful for the likes of Jon Stewart, who exposes him for the utter doofus he is.

Stewart does not pretend to be a journalist.

Schultz is too bombastic for my tastes. Both he and O'Donnell trying way to hard to take over where Olbermann left off.

I don't think he should be considered a journalist, but he does ask better questions than a lot of them.

I'll never forget how big of an a-hole he was to Tucker Carlson a few years back. Even Stewart's agent apologized to Carlson. That was the old Stewart, though. He seems to be a lot more fair these days.

Yes - Doocy is an idiot. No argument. But he is not what the left was worried about. The FD was to stop the likes of Limbaugh. Maddow, Schultz, O'Donnell, Matthews are no more competent, journalistic nor intelligent than Limbaugh. They're all the same. Partisan hacks. To claim "progressive" talk has failed because it was too competent, intelligent or journalistic is laughable.

It was. Errors here and there? Sure. But relative to the grade school effort coming from Fox, he was a breath of fresh air.

He got borderline loud and obnoxious, but for the most part reeled it in. I think the right couldn't stand him primarily because he was so glib, and secondly because he was so sharp in identifying and calling them out on their foolishness.

But, like so many (left and right), he got too full of himself and went too far. Wish he'd stayed just this side of the line and was still around. Would be fun to see what he makes of Perry.

Says the guy taking this way too seriously. To suggest once as a joke that someone commit suicide is not funny and in bad taste. To invoke it five times in one day is simply rude.
