RIP Jerry West, Mr Basketball

If I am not mistaken he played for West Virginia in the Inaugural game of the old Armory Field House which eventually became Stokely Athletic Center.

Apparently it was the 5th game of the first season. 1958. I’d never heard that bit of trivia before. He was a junior at WVU.

Mr. Logo. Greatest Laker of all times. Averaged 27 ppg in his career without a 3 point line.

Also a great executive pulled off the trade for Kobe Bean Bryant amongst others.

I had a friend who said his dad had a long conversation with Jerry West at a job site in West Virginia and didnt even know who he was.

He just thought he was some rich dude.

“Bean”? I was unaware.

Magic is my all time favorite Laker. An argument can be made for him, JW, and Kareem as their GOAT.

there had been complaints from some
It’s pretty obvious that the silhouette is not that of a Black person.

— I had never really analyzed the image before, but what always registered on me was that it was graceful and athletic, lower body going in one direction and upper body in another, and relatively slender, not a #290 muscle guy bulling his way down the court. Fluid.

As a diehard fan of Lakers, probably shouldn't talk about great Lakers unless you add the Minneapolis Laker. George Mikan 23/13 in 7 year career.
