The CBS announcers weren't any better than ESPN or ABC so at best it's just a parallel move. The favoring of Alabama,LSU,Florida and Georgia will continue like it always does. I guess CBS will televise ACC games from now on.

CBS was basically just the Bama and Georgia network we lost pretty much everytime we played a CBS game and Gary laughed at us. I won’t miss it.

I read a couple months ago someone predicting this would happen, but saying ABC was prepared to significantly outbid them

CBS made a bid of $300 mil per year (the previous deal was $55 mil per year) and the bidding has gone well over that.

Part of the favored offer (ESPN) that won over the conference has reportedly been the pitching of more creative scheduling by owning all the rights

“With ESPN owning all of the SEC’s football rights, it’s possible that more than one game will be produced for broadcast TV; more top-tier games can be moved to primetime; and the conference can schedule more late afternoon games without having to worry about running into CBS’ exclusive window.“

That said, something else becoming owned by the House of Mouse....

They’re expected to continue to hold the conference rights and broadcast the conference game until their contract expires in 2023, unless the conference or whoever wins the bid for the conference broadcast rights chooses to buy them out of it.

They don’t have the rights to those; ABC/ESPN does. As far as CFB goes, CBS will be left with the Sun Bowl, Army-Navy, and Notre Dame - Navy in the years when Navy is the home team.

Only when Notre Dame is the home team. TV broadcast rights are pretty much based on whoever the home team is.

The 2018, 2016, 2014, 2012, and so on, Notre Dame - Navy games were all broadcast on CBS.
