RIP Twitter

I know I'd really be upset if when I got out of bed that Musk had "fired" me. Or the other example I read of a woman that was 8 months pregnant and had a 9 month old at home and she couldn't log on to her Twitter laptop. I wouldn't stop at half of the employees, I'd go full send and get rid of 95% of them. It's a F'n website, it doesn't take much to make it work.

Why is having a platform that applies the same rules to both sides so bad?
If that was all that was going on a lot fewer people would care. But he's siting around tweeting kooky stuff, trolling people, threatening advertisers, he clearly doesn't have a plan to actually improve the platform experience and repay all the money he borrowed to buy it.

It's a mess.

Elon Musk is the new Donald Trump, is what you're saying? The liberals have a new target to channel their aggression towards. Musk sends our astronauts to the space station, makes the liberals electric cars, but since he bought Twitter he is evil and must be stopped at all costs.

How is it your problem?

All this gnashing of teeth..for something that doesn't matter to ones personal lives..Heard that before.

It's not my problem. I'm just pointing out that the fact that he has a lot of money and "owns the libs" doesn't mean he knows how to run this.

Ohh please...you smarter than Musk? You are butthurt someone who doesn't think like you having control of a media platform.

He's just worried that the truth might be told for the first time in 20 years.
People have been perfectly free to put the "truth" on the internet for the last 20 years. What social media has brought is a group of people who think they are entitled to have a giant corporation broadcast their grievances to thousands of people.

Just curious but are you talking about before Musk bought Twitter or after? Or it just continues?

It was a genuine question. And I actually agree with your statement. I just think that at some point one entitled group comingled with the giant corporation and the public grievances became slanted. I think that’s a problem. And the response was

“If you don’t like it go make your own platform”

Twitter was complicit with that sentiment.

But I don’t think Musk bought Twitter as some altruistic gesture he bought it because he thinks he can make money off it. I don’t buy many of his stated appeals to emotion and some neutral platform. Within two weeks of taking over he’s instituted revenue increase changes. He is cutting costs on what he deems bloated payroll. He’s doing it to improve operating margins. That’s all.

I’m counting on it.
Buy low/ sell high

I think it’s pretty naive to take Musk’s tweets comments on this being some kind of altruistic gesture. His two very first definitive actions were 1) cutting payroll cost and 2) leveraging a value asset to generate revenue which was otherwise being wasted. Straight up business management 101 moves.

And all this kerfluffle about advertisers pulling out is much ado about nothing as if the traffic is there advertisers are going to pay to get in front of their eyes. All it is right now is some virtue signaling politics that’s going to go away.
