This is horrible. I just got back from volunteering in Waveland Mississippi and if it does even half the damage that Katrin did it will be devestating. Say a prayer for everyone in its path.

That's bad!! There's gonna be some MAJOR rain and wind in BR. Blasted RUBES!!! Cannot tell them anything! LSU should have played it in K-town.

Oh well, their U.S. Senator, govenor and the Mayor of NO wouldn't listen before and during Katrina. Guess their chancellor and athletic director are no different. Water seeks it's own level.

I hope the team bus does not get looted!

Right now it looks like lots of rain, thunder and lightning for game time.

We can play in the rain, but if it begins lightning look for play stoppages.

To be honest, the rain will probably favor us since we have a much larger offensive line. This way Phil won't have a choice but to run it.

"Baton Rouge isnt in Texas. "

==================

Well, neither is DEATH Valley--LSU just copied the name. :thumbsup:

===========================

It's the outer rain-wind bands and possible tornadic activity that will be dangerous. It's gonna effect several states.

The game aside - what really sucks is that so many of the evacuees are in the Houston area and the storm is tracking there.

It's like the storms are out to get them or something. Let's hope there is some type of intervention (divine or otherwise). :cross:

You obviously haven't been watching the images of the storm. If it went directly N. right now, the eastern edge would be over the Atlantic coast of GA and the western edge would be over the MS river. IOW, this thing is about 40% of our country wide.

So, if it follows its most likely path, it will not only devestate Houston, but the already Katrina-crippled areas of LA, MS and AL are going to get smashed by the eastern edge. The most dangerous edge. The one that swings in directly from the sea with the highest winds, storm surge, thunderstorms, and tornado spawning super-cells.

So unless Rita takes the extreme western-most of its projected path, Baton Rouge is going to get clobbered really hard. On the other hand, if it does, there will only be high winds, rain, and perpetual severe thunderstorm and tornado watches.

You beat me to it. I'll say right now, the game probably will be postponed. I hate this 'cause I want to see the game as much as anyone. Hell, I was going to the game until about an hour ago. Baton Rouge is going to get nailed with torrential rain, massive thunderstorms and possibly tornados - and all of this quite possibly sat and/or sat night.

I almost wish they WOULD postpone it. Forget what happens during the game, we've got to fly our guys out of their afterwards.

I remember reading a release (cant find it now) where MH asked LSU heads to note ahead of time of any changes or plans that would be made.

Im thinking it was a requested deadline of yesterday?(Weds) As of 4:30am(Today) Thursday there has been no official changes in the 7:45pm est kickoff saturday. Who scratches who's back now? :dunno:

There is no way this game will be played...way to close to New Orleans and there will be too much emphasis placed on neighboring cities to the west.

It's going to be a tough call. For my money, it looks like it's going to be too close for comfort, but hopefully it will just be a rainy night in Louisiana.

For perspective, I heard a guy last night on the Weather Channel describe it as being the equivalent of an F3 tornado the size of the state of Georgia.

prayers go out to those in it's path, ballgames can wait there are bigger things to consider than college football

We need not worry about flying out of that place....the athletic department mught have to invest in some canoes for the team if this game gets played!

On "tigerdroppings" they honestly think that TN wants to call the game b/c they are scared to play in "a little bit of rain". Are they serious? Have they not seen the size of this thing? The winds alone are going to be in the 50mph range in BR during the day. How can you even think that a plane could land in that mess? How are we supposed to get the team to BR safely? Tough call on this one.

You can discount anybody that is a big enough idiot to smack talk in a situation like this. This is a tough call all the way around, but I would really rather them take all the uncertainty out of the equation and just reschedule the game. No use in putting those kids at risk for a stupid football game.
