Manning was not the #1 recruit nationally that year. If memory serves me it was Josh Booty. Manning was the Gatorade National Player of the Year but Booty was the #1 prospect

Also, yes we lost Stewart on signing day. As a matter of fact I remember Randy Sanders commenting and saying that Jonathan simply was lying to him. He said that Stewart told UT he was Vol bound and simply was a liar.

Depending on the service Manning was the #1 prospect.

I thought Lorenzo Booker never lived up to expectations. Did he ever have a 1,000 yard season?

Lorenzo Booker is the biggest underachiever in recent college football history.

It's no surprise here: FSU's offense has been a mess for how long? And just like the past few years at UT, FSU kids are under-coached, badly......

I believe Xavier Lee was also supposed to be a superstar. They haven't really had an awesome offensive playermaker since Greg Jones.

Greg Jones was good, but I dont know about great.

He used to tear those awesome Miami defenses to shreds. He literally almost took FSU to victory with no help. He had a bad injury that slowed the last year of his career.

Forgot about him. He was supposed to be awesome. How can you let Drew Weatherford beat you out? A previously injured Drew Weatherford, nonetheless.

He set pretty much every record in high-school, though.

Initially recruited as an All-State Linebacker, he played for Florida State, rushing for 2,535 yards and 23 touchdowns in his college career. He is sixth for all-time rushing yards at FSU

You sure you're not thinking about Geno Hayes?

And I know we were in it right to the end with Stewart but I'm not so sure about Williams

I'm not thinking of Geno Hayes for sure. Could be wrong about it being Ernie Sims though but I'm 99% positive. Will research and try to provide a link.
