Road Rage

Horn laws probably vary, the last I heard in Knoxville the only time it’s acceptable to use your horn is to alert another driver in an emergency situation.

I found this out leaving a ballgame when horns were being blown, I asked the police officer when I was next to him if it helps when the drivers blow their horn. He said that it was against the law unless it was to alert a driver in an emergency and that a ticket could be issued to the offenders.

I’ve hardly ever use my horn since then.
Never heard of horn laws. I use my horn pretty often. Wednesday morning had a guy come into my lane on a double yellow to pass a car illegally. Luckily I had room but it was still an ******* move, in a 45 mph zone. Laid on the horn until he was passed.

I always lay on the horn to red light runners also. **** those people.

I never use my horn for any reason.

I find that people set very dumb goals when they drive. I'm not sure why, but I do understand some of the reptile-brain issues with it. But I don't go by that part of my brain.

The right way to drive is to help everybody else on the road get where they want to go. The slow people, help them get behind you. The people who want to go fast, help them get in front of you. They will go away. People who want to exit the road, help them. People who want to enter the road, help them. Traffic will be going away from you constantly if you do it correctly.

Many in Nashville feel that if someone blows their horn at you it is ok to fire your gun until empty into their vehicle.
So most of us have been conditioned to not blow our horns ever.

I wonder how many times using the horn has really worked as intended.

Not just Nashville. Probably any urban area. I’ve also decided not to use my horn because it’s not worth the risk of triggering road rage violence - either a gun shot to your car or someone using their vehicle to try and kill you.

I’ll always remember the first time I visited Nassau and the constant horn tapping/blowing which I’ve also seen in some other countries. The anger from a horn honk isn’t universal.

If somebody doesn't see you, then it works. Like if they're going to hit you because they don't see you. Think of it as a bicycle bell. That's when it works.
Exactly. Of all the times someone used their horn, how often was it used to avoid an accident and how many times it was successful.

80% of the time it’s not for intended purpose and only works 1-2 the time.
