Always liked Ayers. Played hard, big motor. Been coaching in the high school ranks, so I imagine this is a logical step to start cutting his teeth in college coaching. Hope the man has great success. Glad to have him back on The Hill. GBO! 🍊

This is actually a GREAT hire for us and here's why...

1...He obviously loves K town which is why he moved back after his NFL career was over.

2...10 years, a full decade, as a NFL player where he got tons of knowledge and experience...our players and recruits will LOVE learning from a guy like that and it should help recruiting some too.

3...HS coaching knowledge and experience PLUS he Won a award as the #1 Best coach in the state at a high level program.

4...He's already worked as, and gained knowledge as, a D Coordinator which proves he's smart and knows how to make adjustments during the games.

5...He's already made his $$$$ in the NFL so he won't have to be paid big $$$ as a Vol coach.

6...He already knows that as a Vol coach he'll be Trained even better by our Head Vol and current staff so his future can only get better.

7...Our HC already has a reputation of promoting from within his own coaching ranks so he can relax and learn already knowing that he WILL move up our coaching ranks.

8...In case of emergency he gives us another coach that already has some experience and knowledge as a D Coordinator if we really need a DC to step in really fast that will already know everything about our Vols D.

9...During relaxing times our players and visiting recruits will enjoy listening to him talk about his great times as a Vol and playing in Neyland and other stadiums around the country.

There are more good reasons why this is a great hire for us but I believe I've already made my point.

LMAO @ this not being a good hire.

VFL...GBO!!!
I agree. Great hire. I expect to see dividends in the pass rush. Dude played 10 years in the league. Think he picked up some knowledge there? In fact, I could see him succeeding Garner some day.
