Rodney Garner joins Auburn's staff

Just because he beats the crap out of us recruiting doesn't mean he does it dirty. I have said it before and will say it again, we keep hiring coaches from mid majors and in the SEC the James Franklin's of the world are few and far between, but most surround themselves with SEC recruiter's because they know how important that is. We shall see but loading up your staff with Cinn. coaches is about as risky as hiring "fat Sal". Damn we need an administration committed to winning and we just don't have one IMHO. Hart's lackluster search for a HC should tell us all something. The fact he didn't want a search firm looking over his shoulder and scratching their heads kinda says it all.

This +1000 regardless of what some tn fans think the best staff in the country wasn't hanging in Cincy. N coaching chemistry is overrated if all your players ate average on the field.

Its now looking like auburn n ark may have done better than us.. remember folks it who u surround yourself with that makes u successful.

gus has put the barn a leg up on us. looks like they made a great hire.

I wouldn't have touched Gus with a 10 foot pole. His wife will be liquored up again and will be trying to moon everyone on campus from the top of toomer's corner.

Glad to see Georgia lose Rodney...

Rodney and Trooper are both so last week...relax, we will be fine!

good to see, if the vols want to get back on top, an UGA declination would be helpful.
Maybe this past SECCG wil be equivalent to UT's 2001 SECCG

You guys realize Garner WAS at UGA, right? A team we play every year....this is good news imo.

I don't understand how playing a specific team changes our results on the recruiting trails. Most recruits are sold on the pitch.

The bagman is getting past his prime. Auburn can have him, I'll take Graham anyday over Garner or Taylor. We did get Thigpen and my Auburn buddies really like him.

This is true on so many levels. With all the comparisons drawn between Richt and Fulmer...Garner's departure was really the beginning of the end for Phil. I'm glad he is out of Georgia.

Auburn just offered a boatload of money--too hard to pass up. He's a good recruiter, but his d-line got steamrolled by alabama.

Somewhere in Georgia, tears of laughter are rolling down Dooley's face.

I don't think that Hart did a poor job in the Head Coaching search. Gruden wasn't interested! The next 5 coaches on the list, would have made lateral moves to leave Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Florida State, Miami, to come to U.T. They were seeking a raise at their current job. They were not serious about U.T.

However; I am disappointed that Hart told Bilemini that U.T. was not interested in him because he did not have S.E.C. recruiting ties..... Bilemini would have been a good hire, in my opinion.

I heard a guy on sportstalk in chatt back after the UT/UGA game that Garner and Grantham were at odds and Garner was looking to leave. I think I brought up this info in another thread a while back cannot remember.
For you guys who think it wont matter on if hes recruiting AU or recruiting UGA are not looking at this from the right prospective. This is a huge loss for UGA. A team that is in our division and we have to play for each year. Your looking at 2-3 stud recruits a year not going to UGA on this alone.

Gus is quietly putting a great staff together.

Agree - but few around here wanted to go after him or Hugh Freeze. Yet, both are going to make some noise at their respective schools. Freeze has already turned Ole Miss and has a heckuva recruiting class underway. Mahlzahn will do likewise.

But no worries since we have the "best staff in America." lol.

My thoughts exactly. Opens up Atl for us, IMO.

It's pretty funny what Georgia fans are saying. Basically, they are saying:
He was the bagman at Auburn at Tennessee.
Then, he went to Georgia and they got him straightened out. No cheating occured from him when he went there.
He will now be the bagman at Auburn.
