I tell you what, if Memphis can get him on staff it would be a great move for them. The quickest way to get competitive again is to bring in talent on the field, and Garner is the man to do it.

He is leaving because CMR offerred Mason against his wishes.

I've heard for a while Garner was looking to leave when it became apparent Richt wasn't going to promote him to DC. I think that "promise" is what kept him from coming to Tennessee last year.

Bet he's regretting not taking that raise to come to UT. I know that he wants to be a DC but he won't make much more as DC of Memphis compared to being a position coach at UT.

The experience he would have gotten working under CMK to put on a resume would have gone a long way to him getting a DC job at a better school than Memphis after a couple of years.

Agree completely. I'm sure he regrets not taking the TN offer last year, especially when it became apparent he indeed never had a shot at being promoted to DC if Martinez left.

I hope so. It would make me so happy to see Georgia fall to the bottom of the SEC East and then we cherry pick who we want from Georgia. Would be like old times

Who would you want to lose in order to get Garner?

And if he really wants to be a DC then coming to UT is not the right move for that to happen quickly. He needs to go to a lesser program and build it. Then other opps will come open.

As far as a learning experience UT is the best option. I bet he wishes he would have come on board last year given his current situation.

i am lost. who's mason?

He's a guy who played for Lassiter High School in Marietta. Threw for an obscene amount of yards in a strictly passing offense. However when it came to a pressure game (state QF) he threw no TD's and 5 INT's. He threw for 4533yds, 52 TD's and 552yds in one game.

That wouldn't make sense...would it? Why would a defensive coach care about CMR wasting a scholarship on a qb? Uga has a couple of good qb's already on the team anyway.

It's a joke. See.......Gardner is the recruiting coordinator.
