Rodriguez going to Michigan (merged)

I can't understand why a kid would want to go to the winningest program in college football history and not Duke. It just doesn't make sense.

and what on earth does Berry have to do with Pryor. QB is the biggest impact position in the game and we're comparing him to our safety.

I'm sure disgruntled Georgia fans said something to the effect of, "Berry is bad, we don't need him, thank goodness we have Matt Stafford."

It's amazing how bad and/or overrated every player is that chooses not to attend UT. Those guys all have a bad attitude, as well.

The point is... you guys are obsessing over this QB who may or may not have come to UT even if Cut stayed.

Frankly, there are bigger issues than stroking this guy's ego when he's not even a Vol.

If you want to make someone feel good, pick someone like Berry who means far more to our program, even if he's not the freakin' QB.

Tee Martin was the QB for our NC; not PM. Defense matters.. ask Al Wilson.

I'm happy with Berry as our superstar for years to come and if this guy is the kind of prima dona who quickly goes on the record every time a coaching change is announced, I mean... really. Put things in perspective, gentlemen.

I could give a crap about where Pryor decides to play. I knew he was never coming here. As for Berry being more valuable than a QB, that's highly debatable. He's got quite a ways to go before he's that good.

Rich needed to cash his golden ticket before Pat White graduates. Windows of Opp are only open for a short period.

Agreed.

A comparion of Berry to a QB, of course, depends on who the QB is. If we still run the G-Gun next year, he could be taking a few snaps himself. Now, I can get excited about that, without carrying who either our new OC is or who the heck Michigan hires, can't you?

but not Duke?

Does he plan on working with the position coach or just the HC? Would a new HC have enough time to be a good QB coach during his first year?

Maybe this guy is over-hyped and he's already lost his perspective.

Eric Berry... better athlete, better mind, better for the program. I'm glad we've already got him on board. Let Pryor do whatever he wants.

If he thinks one man makes a program, so be it. This is the problem with putting too much stock in one higher schooler. Besides we've already got a couple of good QB's (I hope).

What on Earth are you talking about?

It's obvious he likes Rodriguez. Its not like in 2 years, the new coach is automatically going to be a spread coach.

Given how well Gerald Jones has run the mobile QB package, I don't think our coaches will try to waste Berry's time by teaching him to play QB. Although Berry has a lot of skills and tremendous athletic ability, he has a lot to learn about playing safety. That's where his future lies and that's where his focus should be.

Wow. You can have a birth in the NCG by only beating Pittsburgh, lose to crummy Pittsburgh and yet someone still wants to steal you. Fun world.

I cant believe RR went to Michigan, I really didn't think he would go. He better beat OSU.

Reportedly, the relationship between Rodriguez and the administration had gotten pretty bad.

On another note, after being left at the alter by Miles and politely rebuffed by Ferentz, Michigan has hired a better coach than either of them. Of the names I heard mentioned as serious contenders, if I were calling the shots for Michigan, Rodriguez and Schiano would have been far and away my front-runners. Kirk and Les may have done the Wolves a big favor by saying no.

Wow. WVU officials really screwed this one up. Apparently all he was asking for was:

WVU governing board supports administration in coach flap

In separate meetings with Athletic Director Ed Pastilong, Chief of Staff Craig Walker and, finally, late Saturday night with newly installed President Mike Garrison, he asked the university to do the following:

• Allow at least an additional $100,000 in bonus money for his assistants.

• Allow scholarship players to retain possession of textbooks at the end of each term, which meant they could have sold them, as apparently happens at other programs.

• Waive a $5 ticket fee for each high-school football coach attending Mountaineer home games, a fee that generates an estimated $5,000 for the university each season.

• Hire seven graduate assistants and a new recruiting coordinator, to ease the duties performed by secondary coach Tony Gibson.

It was sarcasam. I was refrencing these obvious selfish demands that would only benefit RR.

again, sarcasam.

That is what I thought.

Call me crazy, but I think Rod will got with a more conventional offense and defense at Michigan.

The overall talent level will be higher and I would see no reason to run a 3-3-5 defense at Michigan.

He did a good job at WV and I think he left with as much class as a coach could, given his situation. I liked hearing the supportive comments of his players on the radio yesterday evening.
