I don't think it was intended to belittle. Trump is known most widely as a TV personality/businessman and maybe the last thing he's known for is politics.

I do have to say that seeing Trump's classless rebuttal, I'm glad Paul turned him down. Trump is a joke.

Not to mention it's ignorant. Ron Paul is polling better than any "fringe" candidate has for a long time. Who is to say he has no chance?

Based off just personal interaction, it's hard to imagine that Paul is really polling that bad, and this includes older generation folks as well.

My parents, who are retired, are on the Paul wagon... they can't stand any of the other candidates.

Rick Perry has dropped out of the Trump debate.

I'm guessing Gingrich, Bachmann, and Santorum will still attend. That will be riveting television.

I confess that I am impressed by both Paul and Huntsman for doing this.

Seems like Romney wanted to see how that would play out.

And when you have two bombastic loud mouths on camera (Trump and Gingrich) then Romney would look terrible in comparison.

So Paul and Huntsman did it on principle that they did not want to help promote the carnival barker, Romney for political reasons.
