Rotation for Brevard

I hope Woolridge comes out and impresses.

Otherwise, maybe it would be good for him to redshirt. McBee too.

Pearl said that Kenny is meant to play 4, but he's just not there yet. Shoot, play Pearl until Maymon becomes eligible and then redshirt Hall too. Pearl might need to string these guys out as much as possible if recruiting is going to be tough the next year or two.

Probably true, but there's a serious problem with that plan. If Kenny moves to the 4, then next year we'll have 3 4's (Harris, Maymon, Hall) and no 5's.

Something tells me that won't work.

I agree. Maybe he means way down the road.

BTW, does anyone know if we are recruiting (in our limited capacity) a 5 for next year???

I dont understand why little Pearl would get significant minutes on a team that is going to need a lot more people stepping up on offense. The defense is going to be sketch anyway and the point totals will be down. Pearl offers very little on offense in my opinion.

You will need an accountant to keep up with Harris' points

Pearl is a heady player. He isn't gonna pull up and knock down any jumpers, but he finds his way to a few layups a game, is an excellent hustle player, and a versatile defender. He is a glue guy, and you don't need offensive production from all 5 players on the court. He is our best screener, a very underrated and capable passer from the 4, and his energy is contagious. Pearl has obvious flaws in his game, but I have grown very comfortable with Pearl getting 8-12 minutes a game and providing some toughness. I don't see much of a drop-off in point production for us. Scotty being more consistent, Tobais will get his, and several scorers up and down the line in Cam, J-Mac, Goins, and Golden. Renaldo and McBee are capable of going off as well from trey.

:good!:+1

That kid is a player. Its still going to take some adjusting with him getting used to having other good scorers and players around him.

I think he was holding his own at the Micky D's game with alot of other top players. It won't take him long to adjust.

What??? You must be forgetting about his 1.3 ppg average from last season.

Hall can defend the 5. Maymon has been said to be able to defend the 3-5. As long as we can bang and defend the 5 position, we can score elsewhere. I would like to see us either land a top big or a game-ready juco player to come in and give us depth inside for the 11-12 season though. Hopefully we will figure it out, but be honest, Chism was our starting 5 for the last few years and he was no more a 5 than Hall is. Its all about the fight in the dog, and I believe Hall has the fight. He gets some weight on his frame and he will be every bit the defender Chism was.

Because they play so much defense in that game right? Im not saying he wont be great because he will. But learning in game adjustments and trying to win big games will be a lot to get accustomed to at this level.

So it sounds like the rotation has pretty much been set even though Pearl has not completely confirmed it. This is the rotation used in the scrimmage at todays practice and what i would expect to see at the game wednesday.

PG: Melvin Goins/Trae Golden
SG: Scotty Hopson/Skylar McBee
SF: Jordan Mcrae/Renaldo Woolridge
PF: Tobias Harris/Steven Pearl
C: Brian Williams/ John Fields

Bruce said Tatum is back at practice but no matter what will not play wednesday so that is the reason for him not being in the rotation at all. When he comes back expect Tatum to start at SF and Mcrae to back him up. Theres a small chance that Mcrae may back up Scotty and Woolridge back up Tatum and effectively taking Skylar out of the rotation, this will completely be depending on how much Renaldo has improved. I do think when Maymon becomes eligible that he will replace Pearl backing up Tobias at PF.

We have too many bodies. I would redshirt McBee and Woolridge if possible. I think I mentioned that a few days ago, but felt it should be stated again because we have the possibility of losing so much after the season and both of those players mentioned have all the potential in the world if they can just get them developed to play at an SEC level
