Round #1 High School Football Playoff Schedule

That is crazy. So what if they don't want to play & get their rear end kicked. TSSAA never ceases to amaze me. :eek:hmy:

Unaka shouldn't have even been in the playoffs. I think only top two teams in a conference should go especially when there are only 5 teams in the conference.

The really bad thing about it is I am 100% sure that the reason behind the penalty is that the TSSAA is losing their share of the revenue from the game.

I was told a year or tow ago that the money from ticket sales for each playoff game until the state championship is divided where the TSSAA gets 50% and the home and away team gets 25% each.

It will never happen.

Correct. The only thing that comes out of the 50%, the TSSAA share, are the official fees. By the time the home teams pays for stadium costs and the visiting team pays for transportation, most schools lose money to participate in the playoffs.

Thievery.

People do refer to it as the T$$AA.

It's possible that in Class 2A that Happy Valley and Hampton could match up again in quarter finals. However, Sullivan North (8-2) stands in the Warriros path and Austin-East stands in the Bulldogs way.

I didn't even know there was any Thursday games. TSSAA usually has (Thu) beside the weekly scheduled games. My fault there was 1 game with a (Thu) listed beside it. The others didn't have it listed like that so I had no clue those games were last night. Thanks for posting those scores.

Yes, it's very possible Happy Valley & Hampton could meet but it would probably be in the next round & not next week.

I guess that would be the quarterfinals. One of them might have to plat my alma mater in North & it would be next week if North was to beat Knox Grace in which I think they can.

North doesn't stand a chance against either Happy Valley or Hampton though. Both teams kicked North's butt in the regular season.

Final:

Elizabethton 48, McMinn Central 19

Next up is CAK

Same team that put them out last season too. I went to the game tonight. Betsy looked good as they have all season but if they don't play a near perfect game next Friday night they're gonna be put out. CAK is always good & their team is no different this season.

Tonight's game had the shortest halftime of any ballgame I've ever been to in high school. What's the normal halftime? Isn't it 15 minutes? They only had a 10 minute halftime for some reason.

One other score has my alma mater getting whipped 34-7 in the 4th quarter by Knox Grace. I thought we could beat them but their competition seems to have helped them better than ours.

Not sure cak is as good as they were last year. They lost their qb a couple weeks back and if you kept up tonight pigeon forge keep it close until late. Game was much closer than the score. I think we have a legit chance of beating them and Corey Russell impressed me throwing the ball tonight.

I believe that during the playoffs halftime is suppose to be 20 minutes, at least that is how long its been at every playoff game that I've ever been to.

I wasn't aware CAK lost their QB but Betsy has as well but seems Corey Russell has taken over the spot very well. The Cyclones just might have a chance then next week because CAK has been a thorn in their side in football & basketball for a while now.

Russell is a kid for Betsy that can do it all. He's special & is going to end up possibly setting a bunch of records by the time he leaves there.

I thought it was 15 minutes for regular season games & 20 minutes for playoff games. They didn't go by that rule tonight in Elizabethton for sure. Thanks!

I'll have all the finals posted here soon. TSSAA has most of them in except for maybe 8-10 games or so.

Greeneville is unbelievable guys. They scored 70 points again. That's like 5 straight games of 70+ points. They have also not given up hardly any points either. I just don't see anybody with a chance in beating them. They should most definitely make the championship game for sure.

I don't even think that game will even be close. I say at least 28 point victory for that game. They had a team like this in 2010 I believe it was where they blew everybody out & the championship was a 35 point victory as well.

I thought halftime was 15 minutes. Seems like the 4th quarter went by quick! I know that once a team is up by 35 the clock continues to run.

Would like to see Cyclones beat CAK. They'll need to score at least 35 and not give up more than 28 to CAK.
I think Greeneville could win the 4A title.

Has schedules been announced for next year yet? Looking to see what "Betsy High" will be doing. Will they have a combo of 3A and 4A or just play they same 3A in 2017 then change in 2018? I think they could do well in 4A with the exception of Greeneville. However, it's been years, not sure how many, since they played the Greene Devils. Betsy has Bristol (5A) and Johnson City (6A) on their schedule. Does Greeneville play any higher class schools?

Somebody said it was 15 minutes for regular season games & 20 minutes for playoff games. I just know last nights game went by pretty fast.

Yeah, Betsy will need to score in the 30's at least to win next week against CAK. Greeneville in my opinion is a lock to take the 4A title unless they just have a bad game.

Schedules for 2017 probably won't be out until spring of next year. When they re-classify it causes problems for schools in finding opponents. All schools should have their schedules set by around March-April of 2017.

Some will have theirs set & ready before. I don't know what the deadline is though from the TSSAA to have schedules turned in.

Betsy will have a much different schedule than in past years that's for sure after going to 4A. Greeneville will probably be one of those teams & more than likely in the same conference too.

Elizabethton will play with Greeneville Sullivan south, east, central, grainier in that region next year. And as far as Greeneville in 4a this year, don't overlook a team up the road in Knox catholic. They are very good!!!
