Political Punch

ABC News' Christianne Klein reports that at a breakfast with Republican insiders at the Capitol Hill Club this morning, former White House senior aide Karl Rove referred to Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, as "coolly arrogant."
"Even if you never met him, you know this guy," Rove said, per Christianne Klein. "He's the guy at the country club with the beautiful date, holding a martini and a cigarette that stands against the wall and makes snide comments about everyone who passes by."
Rove said Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., "needs to come right at him." He referred to the latest Newsweek poll showing Obama with a 15-point lead over McCain as nonsense, though he used a more scatological synonym. Rove said he was heading over to the White House for lunch and a chat with the President, Klein reports.

Interesting that Mr. Rove would use a country club metaphor to describe the first major party African-American presidential candidate, whom I'm sure wouldn't be admitted into many country clubs that members of the Capitol Hill Club frequent.
But the picture Rove paints is interesting. Who, pray tell, is Rove at this country club?
The guy telling funny stories near the band?
The charming president of the club's philanthropic arm?
The brainy guy with all the sports scores?
Or the guy who vandalizes your car and blames it on the kitchen staff?

Thoughts?

clearly a racist attack on Rove

Rove says nothing about race. The ABC employed columnist brings race into a statement that has nothing to do with race.

With a raised eyebrow talking like Carlin.......

NO WAY! This is all fantasy. No rich, white, elitist Liberal would ever let Barry Obama socialize at their country club. Jay Rockefeller would have him working in the kitchen. Thank God there are no BOWLING ALLEYS at country clubs.

there aren't many (if any) all white country clubs in DC. me thinks any of them would be very excited to admit a possible future president.

But saying that would not help us all to see the big picture

It's interesting that anyone from Bush's administration has the gall to imply that anyone else is an elitist.

how many politicians aren't elitists? it takes a certain level of "everyone is stupid but me therefore I must show them the way" attitude to even bother with politics.

arrogance and elitism are two different animals. All administrations have their share of arrogance, but not all have the elitest mindset that Obama has.

I would just advise BHO to stop using the word "they" so much.

This is the real crux of the issue - he's said "Republicans" and "they" which casts a very wide net. It is so anti-thetical to his post racial message and unifier message.

It's really annoying.

btw, the Obamassiah's camp as scrapped the faux presidential seal.

Now if we can just get the Republican Presidential Task Force, the Republican Senatorial Inner Circle, and the Republican Presidential Roundtable to scrap it, everyone can go to bed happy that the Presidential seal is not being misused.
