hey we need to have a better attitude about recruiting. UT hasd the intangables to become the preium school of the sec and in the country. saying we dont have a chance is the wrong attitude. we are fing tennessee. 105,000 every staurday. premium facilities. a former nfl couch and a dc that is one of the best in NFL history.....buck up boy its a new day in knoxville.......

You are right, but not in the middle of the recruiting year. Most of the big time guys have already committed, and are unlikely to switch. I think next year we will be poised to have a shot at any recruit in the country, but not this year. If Kiff can keep most of our pre-Kiff commits and get a few uncommitted big names then this will be a successful recruiting year.

This. Randle is basically down to LSU, Miami, Bama, and Oklahoma I believe.

My point exactly... This year we can't recruit a guy like this who has been thinking about 4 major schools the last year or so. We aren't on his radar, and most likely won't be.

I'm saying that next year we will have a shot at players like Randle before they have had time to narrow their choices down.

If we get him in for a visit anything can happen

If Kiff can pull this guy on board for next year then that would be unbelievable. I think our chances and slim to none, with them being closer to none. I feel like he is going to do what everyone has said all along and sign with LSU.

Wow...bburger991, & 423vol, Monte Kiffine coming here increases every players chance of going to the NFL, not just the ones on defense. First of all, he has connections ALL throughout the league. Coaches at every position on both sides of the ball...not just defense. He can generate interest to any guy on this team by making a phone call and giving him an endorsement. Second, the more spotlight put on the program by him being here means more media coverage, scouts in the stands, etc. I'm sure scouts don't look down at their shoes during the offensive possessions. Think outside the box guys...

He's a WR. Monte makes no difference to him.

Because like i said earlyer...most kids today want to go to a football program that will prepare and help them for a future in the NFL....having to practice every day against Monte Kiffin's D and learning how to evade his schemes will be good preperation for a future in football......bitch.....haha

1st team offense normally practices against 2nd team defense, which really isn't that big of a deal.

Ok, I can kind of see the connections thing, but honestly, I'd rather go to a school that focused on offense, had a great OC/positional coach, in a system I could excel in, than just a decent offense because Kiffin is the DC who I'll most likely never deal with.

Ok dude your nit picking....you and i both know having a supreame staff in the SEC will bring recruits in...it establishes crdibility in the program. it is a signaling of a "new day" in knoxville.....we need to stop thinking like a Kentucky or Mississippi State fan base....we are tennessee:dance:

Several LSU people I've talked to were scared Fulmer was going to steal him away.

Now that Kiffin is here it makes you wonder if it hurt or helped Tennessee's chances.

Sure a good staff will bring people in, but we don't know anyone on the offensive staff outside of Reaves, and that doesn't really help with recruiting next year.

Plus it just looks kind of shady since if we have recruits commit because of a coach, ie Drayton/Giles, and then fire Drayton the day after signing day, it just looks bad.

I mean, next year I think we'll have a shot at everyone on defense at least, and a lot of offensive players depending on the staff, but not this year.
