Point taken. I looked it up. He lived (still has a house there?) in Hyde Park which is on the south side of Chicago. Absent information to the cotrary, I'll assume that all of south side Chicago is a ghetto ****hole.

When the dust settled, there were three facets to that ordeal. One, some of Kerry's critics got carried away and took some of the info to extremes. They unfairly mischaracterized some things as worse than they were. Two, there were differing accounts of what happened that could not be proven either way. Three... there were things that Kerry flat out lied about.

Only #3 was relevant to the election. I wish they had been much more careful however Kerry was not innocent.

This thing with Rubio pales in comparison to that. It is completely inconsequential. There are no "lies" at stake but simply a "journalist" parsing his claim and deciding that he doesn't like the way Rubio used the word "exile".

Did Rubio's parents leave during the early days of Castro's revolution? Apparently. Did they intend to return? They say so. Could they return safely after the revolution? No. Does that make them exiles? They think it did.

Does any of this change his identity with the Cuban-American community? That's ultimately up to them to decide but it looks pretty silly and especially when it wasn't even his direct experience.

Once again, someone popping off about something without the first clue. Where did I say it cost Kerry the election? That's right I didn't. I was stating a FACT about hatchet jobs. The right does them as much and as effectively as the left. Thinking otherwise is foolish

For the record, I could care less if Rubio's family "story" is embellished. I like him and if chosen, he will make a fine running mate for Romney or Cain. It's a ticket I'll vote for in a heartbeat.

Name them. Cite the situation where the "right" has gotten the MSM to go along with them just fabricating stuff out of thin air... or even a story like this supposed embellishment. Name the similar story with Obama. They may get attention with it... but the MSM approaches those accusations critically. Though Obama refused to provide proof of his birth... the MSM ran cover and called those who simply asked for the proof all sorts of things.

Where is the right's version of the forged NG documents? You had a major news organization that accepted forged documents because they had been looking for the smoking gun. Within hours, it was demonstrated that even cursory vetting would have revealed them as frauds.

I work with a 2nd generation Cuban from Boca Raton. I just asked her about it. She says the story doesn't matter to her or her family, who is still in Boca, FWIW. She sees both sides of it.

By all accounts, yes, though I cannot see her this way since her volatile "does not work well with others" personality (which she attributes to her being Cuban) makes her totally unattractive to me.

We get along, but it's because I do everything I can to keep the peace.

won't matter, gsvol has already confirmed that the Birther movement will do everything it can to keep Rubio from becoming a serious contender for VP nominee.
