Kids are no longer going to sit behind someone waiting their turn if they are highly rated. They're not going to do it because they don't have to IMO. That's a good thing as big name schools can't stockpile talent as easily.

It's being reported in Columbus that Ewers had a clause in his NIL deal requiring him to start a certain number of games next year. Don't know if that's true but it would make sense

He be going home to TEXAS, where he wanted to be all along. The NIL "dollars now" and Texas high school rules were the reason for going "up north". Now, where will he wind up Texas, T A&M, Tech, maybe even Baylor. My bet is A&M where he can feast on NIL SEC generated moneys. If it were a couple of years down the road I would think Texas.

Not that it makes any difference, think he played 2-3 downs.
On a beautiful November Saturday, 15 of Ohio State's 23 scholarship freshmen played in the 56-7 massacre of Michigan State. The 2021 freshmen helped the Buckeyes win their sixth straight game against the Spartans and seventh of the last nine played in Ohio Stadium.

QUINN EWERS' DEBUT
With 1:20 remaining in the game, Quinn Ewers made his Ohio State debut. The top-ranked freshman from Texas stood in his own end zone to take his first collegiate snap. The mulleted one did a fine job catching both snaps and promptly handing the ball off to Robert Cope both times to end the game.

This couch analyst mistakenly thought Ewers would have been the quarterback to replace Stroud in the third quarter, as that would have spared McCord burning his redshirt season. Perhaps the thought behind playing McCord was to give the No. 2 quarterback more game experience in case Stroud is unavailable at any point in the remainder of the season.

I just Googled. Multiple deals. The 1.4m was 3 year autograph deal. There was a auto dealer gave him a tricked out F250 to drive. For each mile, dealer gives a buck to children’s charity. The last was a kabucha drink in TX.

I just don’t understand NIL. 1.4m for autographs of a kid that hasn’t taken a snap?
They are probably subsidized by Ohio State.

Why would any want to come here and sit for one of the Heisman candidates next year?
Somewhat agree on qb portals this year unless someone’s got like 3 more years. We’ve got a good one coming in next year who will sit for a year and hopefully ready

Wonder if that changes the way schools go after highly rated talent. If you are recruiting them, only expecting to lose them...?

Made over $1 million for only wearing a buckeye uniform for four months.
There had to be a stipulation in his contract that prevented him from getting the money and then leaving. If not, the company who signed him to the NIL is nuts. I also doubt they gave him all the money up front.

I believe a stipulation like that would break the rules.

I dont know....he has already made more than a million dollars before age 20 and he still will have his pick of schools to play for.

Looks pretty well informed to me.
Yea but money wasn’t going anywhere and now he transfers out and if he don’t play again then he would have lost 2 years of eligibility for little money that would have been there had he stayed in school and went his actual freshman year instead of his senior year in high school.

Take another look at the math. Ewers was redshirting at Ohio St this season. Only played 2 snaps.

Gets the one time exemption to transfer.

He will have 4 years of eligibility. Say he goes to TX for example and sits another year he still has 3 years to play. If he is as good as the recruiting services say he is then he probably won't need 3 years to prove himself to the NFL.

As for Ewers, he'll have four years of immediate eligibility at his next school due to the one-time transfer exception. It's worth noting he was once committed to the Longhorns until he backed off his pledge amid the uncertain status of former head coach Tom Herman.
