I think we can all agree that the running game has to be there. If the wide 3 are gonna have an impact it has to be balanced with a running game. That given, do you think the running game will be effective this week? Can it against this defense?

Go Vols!

We are who were are at this point. And a running team we are not. If we get 70 yards combined I would be shocked.

This team doesn't seem to need a 100 yrd rusher to win, but it would make it much easier I think if our run game could keep the defense honest. For that to happen our O-line is gonig to improve a ton with run blocking and it would be nice to have a Shaun Bryson or a Will Bartholemule(sp?) to lead the way.

I don't. :(

If Tennessee has 100 rushing yards:

A) I'll be surprised

B) I'll pee myself

because

C) We will win by a TD+.

A) Practice your look
B) Put a towel on the sofa
C) Yippeee

You may be right. I like our team's heart and think hey may surprise. Then again you may be right.

You're right about the likelihood of 100 rushing...BUT... If they do use that zone blitz as expected, it's possible to gap that sucker and hit a big run. Making a 100 yard rusher a possible...

It would be nice to see Meach freed up a bit by the threat. I absolutely loved Ainge's check at the line leading to a long strike to him last week. Hopefully Crompton can have the same presence of mind if the opportunity knocks (and the coaching staff trusts him enogh not to call time out). but then, that would be another thread..

I don't think the running game will have to be great, just good enough to keep 'em honest.

We have no running game without Coker. That's pretty much a dead issue at this point. We'll have to throw it 40 times in this game.

Well, LSU hasn't set the world on fire with it's rushing either. Yet both teams will try to pound it out to avoid being one-dimensional.

then we have a problem. I think the screen can go so far - and can be effective - but against THIS defense I don't know that it will be enough. The run game needs to be there IMHO..

I'd be happy if we had 75 yards from our backs. Really happy.

But I don't like anything about the matchup between our guards and freshman center vs. their tackles and middle LB.

And to take that further, I'd be even more happy if we picked that 75 up on 15-18 carries (4-5 ypc). That should be just enough to keep lsu honest, assuming we don't get a big chunk of it late after the outcome is decided...

Why all the man love for Coker? How quickly we forget about Foster - he was number one on the depth chart at the start of the season for a reason. He is finally healthy and will get the bulk of the carries. Unless this one gets outta hand early and we are force to chuck it all over the field, I see Foster getting 125 by the end of the 3rd quarter. Then we play the "3 and out keep away" in the 4th and hope it doesn't bite us again.

I'm just going by what I've seen on the field. Coker looks like he can be dynamic RB. Inside and out, a better player IMO.

I've watched Foster for two years now, and he looks like a serviceable SEC back. But I think Coker is a superior talent.

We will be forced to chuck it all over the field from the beginning of the game, from what I have seen from this offense this year.

How many yards did Foster have last week?
