Running wild: just how many 5 stars can we get?

Heupel has convinced as many 5 stars to come to UT in his career as UGA got just last year. Recruiting seems to be picking up, but we aint nowhere near the recruiting juggernaut of UGA or Bama or OSU... I doubt we'll ever have the shear numbers of 5 stars as those schools, BUT, the trick is to get ENOUGH high level players to match up on the field. You can't play all of em at the same time. I think we are getting there quickly.
I know there is definitely a correlation between signing the best classes and winning championships the majority of the time. That cannot be denied. It is interesting that we just witnessed two teams in Michigan and Washington that are outliers, especially Washington. I looked at 247 rankings and Michigan signed 3 classes in the top ten over the past 6 years.
2023 17th
2022 9th
2021 13th
2020 10th
2019 8th
2018 22nd
Washington did not finish in the top ten once from 2018-2023

There should be a rule against any mention of Tay Tay (or godawful Taylor Swift) in this group again. I despise the Kansas City Chiefs now largely because of that attention whore along with her annoying boyfriend.
The world would be better place if more "celebrities" acted like her.

She's been a legit superstar for many years, whether anyone likes it or not. Legit superstars are just that--and a long way
from attention whores. Social-media "influencers" and the Kardashians would be more along the line of attention seekers.

I never called her an attention seeker.

They also had the luxury of playing in the very weak PAC 12. In the SEC they wouldn't have finished better than 3rd.

My son taught me this. If you get around these Swifty's and the conversation is started to get yucky, all you gotta say is "Wow that Scooter Braun is a jerk". Then 🍿

I look more at who Washington beat along the way. They beat Oregon twice, Arizona, and Texas. The PAC12 had 3 teams that finished in the top 12 nationally.

I will never understand the cultural phenomenon that is Taylor Swift. Okay, she's cute and she's written some catchy pop tunes. Beyond that? What makes her so damn fascinating? Its one thing to have a music career and a dedicated fan base. But she is literally the "Beatles" or "Michael Jackson" of modern day and yet somehow it doesn't seem like it's earned.
She's the wish fulfillment of teen and tween (and 20s too I suppose) girls everywhere. What they aspire to be. Hence she is popular. With them mostly. ;)

I have two teenagers and have had to listen to a bunch of Taylor Swifts songs. Whatever the music I always listen to the words to try and figure out the underlying theme or meaning of the song. Did you all know Taylor has written almost every song on all of her albums? She's written several songs for other artists. Some of her lyrics are exceptional actually, she can write a good story song. If she hadn't written them I'd think differently, but I have a lot of respect for that talent.

I have been going crazy of hearing all of these five stars may be trending to us. This is absolutely insane. 😂😱🤔
None. When they commit to UT, they'll be downgraded at least one star. I wish I were kidding but I'm really not. While Mike Matthews was being pursued by UGA and others, he was a 5*. When he signed with UT, he was dropped to a 4*. He was a dominant player at the Polynesian Bowl but somehow according to On3 and 247... got worse. Ross likewise has pretty much dominated everywhere he's been. But... On3 thinks he's only worthy of 4*.

Honestly, it is pretty ridiculous and should be another proof to the stargazers that there is too much subjectivity and bias in the rankings to draw the conclusions they draw.

For my part, those guys are just as talented and have the same potential they did when a group of journalists in a conference room somewhere still thought they were worthy of a 5th star.

The answer may be 2-3 and not the 5-6 we all would die for, but the better question is how many top 100 kids can we get? I'm fine with a lone five star if we have 10 or more top 100 guys.

Anybody who hates Taylor Swift needs to ask themselves why.

She’s a pop star and one of the most famous people on the planet. If not the most. She’s a billionaire. On her own music. Which she writes.
Hate the game, not the player.

( an eleven year old female in my house made me do it)
