But now that it’s clear that Assad isn’t going anywhere and Turkey has been focusing on Kurdish militants in northeast Syria, Ankara has been signaling it wants a rapprochement with Damascus. Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu revealed earlier this year that he briefly met with his Syrian counterpart in October 2021, the first known high-level meeting between the two governments since 2011.
In November, Turkey launched major airstrikes against the US-backed Kurdish-led SDF in northeast Syria over allegations the group was involved in a bombing in Istanbul, which the SDF denies. Turkey has been asking the US and Russia to convince the SDF to withdraw from towns near the Turkish border.
Unhappy with the US efforts to curtail Turkey’s offensive, the SDF has also requested Russia to broker talks with the Syrian government.
And how were we supposed to stop it without getting involved in an issue within another countries borders? The US allowed ISIS to grow and fester in hopes of regime change. Bu then the Russians came in and ruined that.
US watched Daesh gaining power, Kerry admits in leaked audio
Wikileaks has released a full audio of U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry's meeting with the Syrian Opposition members at the Dutch Mission of the United Nations on September 22, 2016, where he implied the U.S. initially thought Daesh's growth would weaken the Assad regime.
"And we know that this was growing, we were watching, we saw that Daesh was growing in strength, and we thought Assad was threatened," Kerry said during the meeting.
"We thought, however, we could probably imagine that Assad might then negotiate, but instead of negotiating he got Putin to support him," he said in the audio.
"The reason Russia came in is because ISIL was getting stronger. Daesh was threatening the possibility of going to Damascus at some point and that's why Russia came in. Because they didn't want a Daesh government and they supported Assad. " Kerry said.

How naive - ask the Russians how they fared in Afghanistan in the 80's against the ISIS pee wee squad.
ISIS isn't going to be defeated with rockets, bombs and bullets. You can't shoot an ideology to death.
Until the Islamic community rallies against them in an appreciable way nothing is going to change. Killing the leadership just creates a vacuum to be filled by another jihad bent nut.
He was talking out of the right side of his mouth when he said that. Today he is talking out of the left side, so you get the quote above.Sounding a lot like a double standard here. You’re upset when the US gets involved, and now you’re pretending it’s in some way evil that the US didn’t get involved

Then why in the hell do we feel the need to get involved either way? The safe thing to do is let these other "$#!t#01e" countries sort things out o their own, right? When you are the lone world superpower, foreign policy is a damned if you and damned if you don't conundrum.
Oh stop it... the world is NOT waiting for the US to take action. The world waits for whatever negative outcome or tradeoff, foreseen or unforeseen, then criticizes whatever action was taken or not taken that led to said negative outcome.
The teachings of allah align more with isis than the teaching of the Bible doea to Westboro.
What's your experience in studying the Korans teachings? Have you read the Old Testament of the Bible? Sounds like Westboro's teachings are perfectly aligned with that.
Just admit that people do shi**y things in the name of religion and move on, no need to try and single out one because it's not your favorite flavor. Christianity has no moral high ground, abandon that argument.
1. Islam's conquests of the Byzantine and Sassanid Empires in the 7th Century and Muhammad's assaults on Mecca and murder of Jews tend to align well with ISIS. That was actions by the actual living Prophet of Islam and his successors. You don't see those acts by Jesus or the Apostles. Read about early Islam and the conquests of Arabia and then the Middle East and how infidels were treated.
2. 99% chance your ancestors were Christian and frankly, USA as a society and our version of Democracy, Human Rights, Liberty, etc. are all framed and impacted by Christian principles. Over 60% of the signers of the Declaration of Independence were pastors. I hate the way losers like you today disrespect and crap on our ancestors and their beliefs who did so much to get us at the lifestyle we have today. Yet here we are. Frankly, the lifestyle is starting to collapse around it because we have forgotten everything our ancestors did for us. A lot of our society could be fixed if we looked at our past.
