Rutgers' Eric LeGrand is paralyzed from neck down - ESPN New York

Rutgers junior defensive tackle Eric LeGrand suffered a spinal-cord injury in the Scarlet Knights' 23-20 overtime win over Army on Saturday and is paralyzed below the neck, the school announced Sunday.

"Eric, his family and the Rutgers football family believe he will recover," said Rutgers coach Greg Schiano. "We ask our fans and the entire Rutgers community to believe and pray for Eric as he begins the recovery process."

Poor guy, I hate it when these things happen. I'll pray for him and his family.

Wow, that video is horrible. Dude just drops and his legs were stuck in the air for a few seconds, yikes.

Very sad, did look that he put his helmet down what they teach you not to do.

Sad part of a game that we love to watch and play so much.

Pray for him and his family.

Heres to him being able to whip it.

I have seen numerous parallelization cases in my line of work, and they are all very, very sad. Hopefully this is not a severe as it appears, and he and , his family are in my prayers.

it's terrible seeing him move his head around like he was trying to get up.
I think someone said that he could move his toe today.

Just watched the video on Deadspin for myself.

Absolutely horrifying stuff. My eyes welled up when he tried to move.

A friend of mine died in HS over a hit in HS. Was homecoming and he had a date to the dance with one of the cheerleaders. He was in a coma a week or so before he passed. They ended up naming the field after him, and ring the bell from a tower in his honor after each score. RIP Jim Sparks.

Prayers to this boy too.
