Ryan Damron enters The Portal

I wanted to look this guy up so I searched for 'ut football roster' on duck-duck go and the first result was the roster for Texas. Duck-duck go hates us!

Anyway, looks like he is a walk-on QB.

He played in the Kent St game right?
Yes, he is on the participation list for Kent State. Obviously, as a non-scholarship QB he had no expectations that went unfulfilled. Got to suit up for the Vols for a couple of years, and now can go find a smaller school to actually get playing time. Possibly help him get into coaching if he has that desire. Good luck Ryan, hope you remain a VFL!

I’ll probably get roasted for this…but IMO walk ons don’t need to announce they’re in the transfer portal and backups don’t need to announce they’re returning for their senior year…

JMO…GBO…VFL…WGWTFA!!!
It's all good.

No need to announce if no one outside your family notices.

It reminds me of those Dad bands who pay bars to let them play and show up in limos with red carpet and fake paparazzi.

More power to Ryan Damron; he is playing the hype game. He can find a team that can use his talents. I'm going to guess he has watched as much video on SEC QBs as anyone in the Conference. He has practiced base sets of the offenses of all our opponents. That has to have some appeal to coaches looking for motivated QBs.

I would think walk-on players are uniquely prepared to coach position groups given their assignments to play in various schemes from week to week.

He probably just wants a place to have a chance to play. No reason to trash the guy. Most of us couldn’t come close to being a walkon QB at a SEC school
Why the discussion for a walk on QB. NO!!!!! The sky isn't falling!!
