Saban’s terrible clock management

They should have ran the ball at least once before the Fg. They would have either ran the clock down so their FG attempt would be last play of reg or caused Tennessee to take a TO, which would have severely limited Vol options if the FG wasn’t good.
Agree. I thought for sure it was three runs up the middle, making us burn TO’s, and getting ball to FG kicker’s preferred position.

HOW DARE YOU QUESTION THE STRATEGIC GENIUS DECISION MAKER! I just posted about his ridiculous choice to kick a FG on 4th and 1 and I was told you can’t question the greatest coach of all time. He’s perfect. Never makes a mistake.

He was playing to finish the game with a first down and have an easier field go. They almost had it with that pass to Gibbs that went through his hands. When it was 3rd and long he liked his chance of completing a pass while we had a walk on DB on the field. I can't say I blame him due to how many passing yards we gave up that game.

I mean we gave up a lot but Bryce threw the ball 52 times.

Gibbs was the best RB on the field by a large margin Giving him a carry wasn’t a wasted down Last week Saban said “you’ve gotta keep from losing the game before you can win it”. He was talking about players but it applies to coaches also.

I think he did it for a few reasons…he didn’t want to go to Overtime in Neyland stadium, their offense was moving the ball all night on or defense and I don’t think he had confidence in the kicker to make it from that far. Not saying it was the right decision, but I don’t blame him for it.

I think it’s elder abuse to allow him to coach any further than yesterday. He should retire immediately and apologize to the entire state of Alabama for being such a failure.

La hoo za hur!

Well I think that explains why he kicked the fg earlier in the game instead of going for it on fourth. This was the opposite of Brian Kelly who coached his team into a hole because he got nervous from early mistakes.

I think we won because of how Hooker and the team played more than Bama giving it away because of how Saban coached.

He may be starting to slow down and so is bama. If not for Young they would have lost 3 games last year. And would have lost to both A&M and Texas. If bama did not have young yesterday Tennessee would have embarrassed them.

Man, I tip my hat to Young. That kid took a flat out beating. Can you imagine the QB's coming up on our schedule! Talking to my O line, I would be like "Bro, you got to block"

Not the first or the last time he will mismanage time. Remember the kick-six against Auburn? He fought for the second for an attempt at a field goal out of his kicker’s range. Cost him the game. You at least run on second down, you have two timeouts left…

This is the third time UT with limited time left on the clock, drove for points at the end of a half. You can’t leave time on the clock at the end of a half, against this team.

I never said that. Saban simply gave Heupel a door to victory to walk thru & Josh did it. Saban probably expected JH to kneel on the ball like all other coaches do.

I think he was actually worried about our run defense stuffing them. If you take away Gibb’s 1 long run he was only averaging 3.3 ypc which is way below his season average of 7.2 ypc. His ability to absorb first contact is what really saved Bama last night. We had him in the backfield multiple times and he was able to shake free.

I was scared every time Gibbs touched the ball in the 4th Qtr.
