I could sort of understand the logic because it’s a 50 yarder. It’s not exactly a gimme in college. You want 10 more yards. The mistake he made was being so quick on first down when Tennessee wasn’t calling a TO and essentially lost the down because Bama didn’t know the play call and Young had to throw it away. He should have run a quick RB dive on first down, make UT take a timeout and then go from there.
The bigger mistake? Watching his defense get freaking torched for 3 quick TD’s and kicking a FG at the freaking 2 yard line. I couldn’t believe Danielson was saying that was a good decision like it’s 1996. You have a Heisman winning QB, a first round RB talent and 5 star OL everywhere and you kick a FG?!?! In that type of game? Indefensible.!
