They should have ran the ball at least once before the Fg. They would have either ran the clock down so their FG attempt would be last play of reg or caused Tennessee to take a TO, which would have severely limited Vol options if the FG wasn’t good.

I actually asked the question (in a BBS before we had forums like this) of Mike Keith before the TN-OSU bowl game (back when he did a sports talk show here) how TN's record was vs. Heisman winners in bowl games..... (he used the ? on air and turns out it was pretty good).

I'm guessing it's better now (even though it wasn't a bowl game)......

I think it’s elder abuse to allow him to coach any further than yesterday. He should retire immediately and apologize to the entire state of Alabama for being such a failure.

For Saban being the GOAT coach that he is, how many times have we seen him make stupid mistakes where he simply gets outcoached?
- Kick six
- Auburn putting punter on field as wide receiver
- Not running out clock, or even running ball to center of the field for his kick against us.

I could sort of understand the logic because it’s a 50 yarder. It’s not exactly a gimme in college. You want 10 more yards. The mistake he made was being so quick on first down when Tennessee wasn’t calling a TO and essentially lost the down because Bama didn’t know the play call and Young had to throw it away. He should have run a quick RB dive on first down, make UT take a timeout and then go from there.

The bigger mistake? Watching his defense get freaking torched for 3 quick TD’s and kicking a FG at the freaking 2 yard line. I couldn’t believe Danielson was saying that was a good decision like it’s 1996. You have a Heisman winning QB, a first round RB talent and 5 star OL everywhere and you kick a FG?!?! In that type of game? Indefensible.!
