Saban hopeful Bryce Young to play

For those who watched the press conference, and aren't relying on sanitized words written down on paper, there is this:

Nick Saban looked anything BUT hopeful when he uttered that sentence. He looked worn down and dejected. His body language belied the "hopeful" entirely.

Watch it yourself, see what you think.

...

For the record, he didn't even say he was hopeful Young would play. He said he was hopeful the coaching and medical staff were going to try to get him ready so he could play. That's a lot of sub-conscious padding between hope and outcome.

So rather than nudge things from "hopeful" to "believe" to "confirmed," you might ought to be nudging things the opposite direction.

He'll play because Saban always gets his way. And Saban doesn't want to taint his legacy by losing to Tennessee. All the more reason though I think we lose, I hope we beat them, even if only by one point. Ex-players with the courage to say so, paint Saban as a tyrant who doesn't really care about player safety or health. That he runs a corporation with self-centered policies and his employees (players) are expendable because his salaries and perks guarantees a constant supply of quality applicants. Bryce will play because Saban demands it. Not everybody is fooled by his holier than thou.

I think with all that hedging that it’s pretty unlikely Young plays. As far as Saban’s tone, I’m pretty sure he would sound like that if you asked him to describe the happiest day of his life.

I hope he plays
I want to beat Bama at their best. That’s what tickled me so much about the Florida game. I don’t think Florida could’ve played a better game. They played with desperation, caught some breaks and just played at a very high level. All of that still wasn’t enough to beat the Big Orange and that makes the win even sweeter! I want the same against Bama, if possible.

I want zero excuses when we lay the wood to them

I'm just curious...do you have links/quotes of former players who "paint Saban as a tyrant who doesn't care about player safety and health"?

I don't care how we beat them and what their excuse is....it's still a W and elevates our program. Lots of teams are starting to get banged up at this point of the season...as we are! Look....I get what you are saying...but a win is a win and as loaded as that red team is it's pretty easy to plug and play...jmho.

At the moment, no. If you really are interested, you'd recall we had a player here a few years back who transferred to UT. The reason he gave was that Saban was quite impersonal, didn't even know his name, and basically would walk right by him without saying anything. And again, if you really want to know, there's GOOGLE, I won't do your work for you. However, I can name a few Saban players who don't have a kind word for him. If you want the details, you'll have to find it yourself. Things I mentioned in my earlier post come from memory of what I read some time before, and video I saw on TV sport segments before. Now those players I mentioned, three come to mind right off the bat, P.K. Sam, Alonzo Lawrence, Jermaine Preyear and Manuel Wright. Now, that being said, Saban is a human being like the rest of us. He's fallible, does dishonest things, and intentional or not, from time to time, mistreats others. Finally, I'm a Vols fan, and like the bulk of you, if I discover dirt on opponents, especially Bama things, I'll, let's say, um, smoke them on VN.

It will be sweet no matter who is calling signals.

Both can run but only one can throw accurately down the field. If Bryce doesn't play it will be a run heavy Bama. The only throws they will allow Milroe to make will be screens and slants. If they get down they will let him sling it trying to catch back up. He also can't recognize the defensive schemes or blitzes coming.

I'm not surprised Milroe has problems throwing. I seen a video of the guy lifting weights and he looked like a LB lifting an insane amount of weight. When you need touch and accuracy hard to lift like that and make those throws. Wouldn't be surprised to see him move to RB next year.

Saban seemed awkward answering that question and kept looking down, which shows very little confidence in what he is saying. Unless it was a good acting performance to throw us off, I very much doubt he plays based on how he answered the question.

The good thing about planning for both is the backup is a worse AR. We’ve seen it already.

I don’t think he plays. If he plays and sustains a season ending injury it’s a bad look. And kills their season.

The Alabama quarterback's status won't be determined until Saturday.

"Bryce has practiced some this week," Saban said "And I think it comes down to does he feel and do we feel that he can throw the ball effectively enough? And he's not going to hurt himself by doing it. I just don't know how much it will hurt him if he does it. He’s done it on a limited basis.

"So that’s the question, and nobody’s gonna know it until Saturday comes. He won’t know it. I won’t know it. Nobody will know it. And I know he wants to play, and I know he thinks he can play. We'll see. Saban said Young was on a "pitch count" to keep strain off his shoulder ahead of the top-10 road matchup with the Volunteers.

Nope, ain't believing Saban don't know. ..

I forgot where I had seen it but I read about an hour ago where sources said Bryce hasn’t practiced all week. Someone that’s reports for Tennessee was who said that. He wasn’t confirming he was out, only mentioning all his sources were not hopeful on him playing.
